The Lions' Pride

I haven't made any comments since sanctions were handed down, but I will tell you for the first time in my life I didn't know where penn state football stood in my life.

I will tell you that I have been going to games since I was 6 years old and distinctively remember standing on the bleachers as Blair Thomas ran down the sideline on that 92-yard run against Syracuse in 1986 at my first game. I've been devoted ever since. It's not just the the team but also the memories I share with my father and closest of friends. Chafie Fields catch, Craig Fayak's kick, Brian Milne's plunge, and Tamba Hali's sack resonate with me not just because of the moments but because of the emotional time invested.

We have two generations of PSU alums in my family and I have the intentions of my two little boys to follow in our footsteps. This year our season tickets have finally been transferred to my name - something I've been dreaming of for 32 years. However, on Monday for the first time I thought about handing them in and turning my back after this administration's handling of the situation.

Now to my point, I knew I couldn't do that once BOB made his message clear - he was drawing a line in the sand. You're in or you're out. Everybody else is against us so if we turn our backs there's nothing left. We can't let that happen. I'm going to control what I can control and I suggest you all do the same. I'm going to go to all the games, no quarterback will be able to make a call at the line and our players will always ride our energy. Where as we can't play for the big ten title, just remember that it still goes through happy valley because everyone still has to beat us and WE can't let that happen.

Currently being a high school basketball coach, I can tell you BOB and his staff have all the leverage you could ever want as a coach. Every rep in the weight room, every snap in practice has a direct meaning. It truly is an "us against the world."
