Let's back off the ledge

  • Redd was a second team all B1G selection and Fortt wasn't even a starter as a Junior. If we lost Hodges or Hill...I think we will miss Redd however I think we can replace his production especially with Bill O'Brien at the helm.

  • Who is on the ledge? everyone's pissed at him not worried about the football program. We will be fine without him

  • No one should be at the ledge after seeing this morning's rally.

I'm fired up. We have plenty of talent left.

I've seen plenty of hand ringing posts over the past week....

  • Fortt's not even gone yet. You know something we dont?

  • It's more 2 things

    1) espn is going to masturbate furiously to this.

    2) it just hurts when your best player leaves. It's a morale crusher.

Like most probably just acknowledging that both scenarios are playing out very similarly.

In all honesty what's the point of not saying anything if you are coming back to the team.

If winning was easy even losers would do it.

  • If Lynch stays this really doesnt have a long term affect on the program. I would rather him leave than come back and spread a virus in the locker room.

  • IDK what ledge you're referring to. I've felt more like I was in the Marianas Trench.

That said, not gonna shed any tears seeing Redd leave.

So how do you know these players because you've made four posts here, all today, and all very matter of fact or bitching about people venting. As much as I think Silas should do whatever he believes is best, and I have no idea what that was for him, you don't have to sit here and yell at people that differ in your opinion just because you're probably connected to the players in some way.

really? You dont know what Bill Obrien can/cant do, especially without Tom Brady at the helm, and especially with a lack of talent. In 3 years, our roster will look similar to Dukes. How did Obrien fare there? For those holding your breathe.....Lynch and Fortt are as good as gone. "We want the warriors...." Well, a bunch.....and our best, are about to leave, or already have,. Dudes like the LB that jumped on board the other day are about to be the norm. Bum deal, but a lot of respect for the dudes sticking around.

Lets enjoy this last season of competetive football while we can.

  • ESPN will make Redd's transfer equivalent to a mass exodus of the entire team ala SMU. It'll actually be funny to watch.

Having guys stay like Mangiro, Donovan Smith, Zettel (which was stunning to me), Ben Bline, Barnes, Baublitz, Amos, Wartman, Paul Jones, etc etc etc are so much more important for the well being of the football program because it'll help us be competitive in 2013, 2014+ which are the years we need to worry about it. Redd is just a juicy story that ESPN loves.

hope you brought a parachute, sounds like you just jumped.

I mean other than Redd, who has left?

    psu139

  • I all of a sudden have a disliking for Stamford, CT... I actually don't have a "problem" with a player's decision to transfer if they feel its best for them.... but to have 2 of the best players from that class come from the same town and be the first 2 high profile players to leave.... I can't help it.... that's too much in common.

On top of that, I don't understand their reasoning. Silas in USC's offense... OK they've got a chance at a national title.... that's a nice draw. But I don't see him being profiled well while Barkley's busy cementing himself as the #1 pick in the draft with some of the best WRs in the nation.

Fortt???? Seriously??? Cal???? Gimme LJSr grooming a D-line in front of me and Vandy's coaching all day. Cal does not = Linebacker U. It's not in the top 25 in that category. That was simply a poor choice of schools in my mind.

If it's only those 2 who leave, we're better off w/out them.... just ask Hodges. This team's gonna get out there and fight. If there is motive to flee when it's time to fight, there's no room for that with the adversity this team will surely face.

My point is that I trust him and his reputation a hell of alot more than Jay and the former crew.

if you dont think Fortt is gone, I think you are having a tough time gripping reality. Lynch very real possibily he is gone to Iowa. So we have undersized Belton at RB, and Zwinik and Dukes to back him up (two fullbacks basically)......not a lot of depth, or quality. LB- Hodges, Carson, Fortt(already), and Mauti gone after this year. We better PRAY hard that the LB's recruits stick.....yeah, I am on the edge. Unfortunately, I think I am fairly close to the reality that is now Penn State football.

  • No ledge, no nothing from me but best wishes for Redd and his future. I would rather have the kids who WANT to be here.

I dont think fortts gone, i know he is. still not the end of the world. im not as worried about lb as i am at RB. We will fill those spots and have the coaching to develop lbs. if anything this season is going to be the challege. we have to win this year to keep this recruiting class. After that its down hill. kids will only have to deal with a two year bowl ban and if they red shirt, one. As long as the staff continues with the recruiting success, even with 65 schollies we will find success on the field. step away! i believe in B O B

Granted, depth is important as hell, and has anyone heard about Hull? But with Carson, Hodges, and Mauti, Fortt would have been a one year starter out of position. He is a very good player, but he hasn't exactly lived up to his expectations yet at Penn State and good luck to him at Cal. Hell, as a junior, spending a couple years on the left coast isn't the worst lifestyle move in the world.

Lynch should stay but who cares...
