Was that sarcasm about permanent captains? I thought Wisconsin was the last game of the season. What's the point of naming permanent captains for one game? Why upset some senior leaders (those that won't be elected) right before their final game? Either captains or no captain. One game sounds strange. Unless he meant he would already be naming captains for the following year which would be premature. I'm confused by this comment.

He has said this all along. Game captains until the end of the season.

Is Della Valle at corner or safety? Interesting that he didn't mention Obeng.

I too am very confused as to why he didn't mention SOA. You will notice in his comment about senior leaders he forgot Urschel, but that was because he was name twice as many guys and we already know he has praised Urschel's leadership. However, forgetting SOA (when the secondary is so thin) has me wondering. I know Jeff said he had 2 INT's at practice the other day but sounds like he isn't much on the radar, and that is to my surprise.

    Yes, it was a joke.

Okay, thanks Jive. It didn't make any sense so thanks for clearing it up. I assumed it was a joke but impossible to tell.

Yeah, I knew that part. I was reffering to a different part of his comment where he said they will name permanent captains before Wisconsin (that would not make sense because it is the last game). He was being sarcastic (they are permanent because there will not be another game).

Jive cleared it up for me. Thanks though.

  • I have to tell you I was not a big fan of this hire from the outset, But how could you not like this guy. I mean really, he has to win and he knows that but out of this entire debacle he has been a beacon of hope. More leadership in his little finger than the entire BOT.

Maybe its because Urschel has one season of eligibility left. He is a gradstudent, but a JR eligibility wise.

Oh wow, that's great. Can't believe I didn't realize that. I almost always see him referred to as a senior. That's my bad. He will be back then, in all likelihood. This is great.

We've got to be very mindful of the us against the world mentality. I can see where that can come into play when we go out there to play. You have to play the sport of football with some sort of chip on your shoulder. At the end of the day, these kids want to play football.

Instead of saying it's us against them, let's just play good football and remember that this is more than football. This is helping our community, this is about bringing much more awareness to child abuse. We need to be a part of leading this University through the next three or four years. It's a challenge. We'll have a chip on our shoulder, like every team should, but it's not us against the world. These kids have a chance to go out there and do some special things.

This is an excellent point. Not only for teams but for fans as games get played. IMO, we dont want to be saying with our attitudes "to heck with the rest of you" in effect. I think most people are not full of hate for PSU community and we can root strongly for our team without too much of an edge to our attitude. I know, I know, Lord knows to some degree we deserve to have an attitude. Just wondering how we handle this...

Training camp is awesome. It's a lot of fun. When you were growing up, everybody loved going to camp. You're coming together as a team and bonding. At the night meetings you're doing a lot with your team. Starting on Saturday, you don't have to worry about school for a while, then you're really coming together and concentrating on football. It's a grind but you're coming together. Good teams come together in training camp. It's fun to put the practice schedules together.

Can just sense that Bill O'Brien would be a hoot to play for..Love this guy...
