Feelings about Coach Paterno...

'I grew up following the Penn State football rogram. I was the type that always loved to watch them because of the jerseys and the men on the sideline.'

There will never be enough words to say what he did for this program. I can't wait to meet him and I look forward to that as soon as I can get that done.

'I would like to send a message to the Penn State football family. In order to get this moving in the right direction, that's my job. I understand that there's controversy, but it's my job to get that in the right direction.

We respect the right to one's opinions, we admire one's loyalties to Penn State, Coach Paterno and his staff. We respectfully respect the opportunity to earn your trust... In time we will find that we have more common interests and goals than not. You should be proud of Penn State's accomplishments, its program, you are why we want to be here. You will always be a part of our program because We are, Penn State.'

I'm the leader of this football family. When you step on campus, you will feel how special this place is. You have great facilities, but right now it's the people that stick out to you. I think I can lead this program, I can't wait to get started.

I am liking him right now

It has finally sunk in to me that the Paterno Era is really done, it took long enough I guess but I guess that is part of the healing process.

I've talked to numerous lettermen, I've talked to them throughout the search. Some of the counsel is different than my feelings may be, I believe that I've gotten back to every letterman that I could remember. I've listened and talked to them many times.

Still dislike Cory Giger

How long do you have as far as what you could learn from Bill Belicheck. You get to be creative, you make up your own gameplans. He's the most challenging guy that I've ever worked for. I'm going to use some of the things that he taught us and forge my own strategies here at Penn State.

As far as Brady goes, coaching is about the players. He makes you right quite a bit. I was fortunate to coach him. We had a good talk the other night, he's a special guy. We were like two brothers.

I believe in myself, I believe in Penn State, I believe in the academic diversity of Penn State, the athletic tradition.

What is not to sell about Penn State?

Incredible stadium, people here, the faculty, the ability to get a meaningful degree, the grass field - everything.

We're going to teach them what it means to be a Penn State man.

I was a college football coach for 14 years. I have a passion for college pro football. I love pro football, but I felt like some of the relationships that I've developed over the years have meant so much to me. Whatever other jobs were out there, they come and go. I know there's going to be some ups and downs, but we're going to smooth it out along the way.
