A buddy and I were talking about this last night.
That might be the best option for him, but how freaking exhausting that would have to be for him, wouldn't you think? To be THIS close, and have to start a new season over???
Plus, it was a late season ACL tear (assuming that's what it is), when would he actually be able to get back on the field?
It just sucks. No even remotely decent options for the kid. I wonder if he had insurance.

On Mauti helping guys prepare:
"He came and saw me on Sunday. He comes from a great family. Met with him and his parents on Sunday, and it's tough for him. He's just a football guy. It's a very difficult thing for him personally. I've been around that. Iv'e seen Tom Brady have that knee injury. For guys that live and breathe the game like that, it's a very difficult thing. He's been around us in the meetings and at practice. I think that's good in a lot of ways for him. He can help Hull. Little tips can help Mike Hull in this game."
Reading this it looks like Mauti had the same knee injury Brady had. Anybody remember what Brady's injury was?

I really hope he had insurance.
I agree that it might be taxing to be around the program for a 6th year. I don't know if he could take it. I know after 4.5 years in State College, I was ready to move on.
Can the Saints or Patriots find him an entry - level job or internship? (like asst LB coach)???
Would be awesome for him to sit in NFL meetings with the Patriots or Saints while re-habbing.
