Kiffin You Are Scum

I was here before that, but I will step away. I understand the pain and hurt...we felt it as well.

Again, best of luck and I hope you keep your entire team intact. God Bless.

Just so you know I've really appreciated your posts and hope you stick around. People are being way too hard on USC and Redd here. PSU really does have cultists, but my guess is that these sanctions make their loyalty feircer rather than the hoped-for effect.

This is a business. All coaches are SCUM when winning is all that counts. Some of the coaches everyone thought had the best morals and were the best people have had situations come to light in the last couple of years proves no one is as they are portrayed in this CFB.

    beat it. bloodsucker.

Only part of this that bothers me is that Kiffin will yank someones scholly or the chances of that kid meeting eligibility requirements just went to 0%.

Looks to me like you're manufacturing this feigned 'bother'. Shouldn't you wait to see IF someone's scholarship is yanked before feeling bothered?

BTW, just how does Kiffin - or ANY coach for that matter - interfere with a players eligibility requirements?

There have been reports that we may have an incoming recruit or a player(s) with academic issues that may be ineligible. Best to see how it all plays out before rushing to judgment, though.

No major violations at TN and less then at FL and other SEC schools during the same period. Who knew Carroll would go to the NFL two weeks before LOI day, and Kiff's dream job would open up. Even the reports of recruiting TN commits is inaccurate: The coaches called and informed all EEs at TN to let them know they were leaving , first hand, rather then hear it from other sources, but somehow a couple of TN posters ( I could name them but will not)stated unnamed sources and it went viral; even the players involved said it was not true. TH is like a spurned lover, they can't understand why anybody would leave them for anybody else. If he had been a failure there, there would not be a peep of him leaving. I have spent too much time in Knoxville to not separate fact from fiction. Other then TN fans all the schools that Kiff has coached have held him in high regard, and the only Raider person (of course the most important) that bad mouthed him was Al Davis; the coaches and players liked and respected him.

Yes, I am a Trojan homer, but Kiff informed the PSU AD he would be contacting Redd and only Redd before he did. Do you realize how many other schools contacted Redd: seven at last count, including the loudest screamers: GA and TN. And he certainly didn't camp out at Happy Valley with his coaching staff ala Illinois.

The reason the USC involvement has legs, is Joe Schad has been reporting it faithfully since day one why other schools contacts have been under the radar>if he comes USC will welcome him, if he stays at PSU, USC will still cheer him on.

And believe me, USC's penalties , though heavy, do not compare to what PSU has just received, but USC and its fans can understand the outrage and frustration that you are feeling right now.

All schools that Kiffin has coached at hold him in high regards? That would be one year Freson, one year Colorado State and then USC. I'm not sure CSU holds him in high regards. We know Tennessee doesn't.

The way he left - telling recruits NOT TO SIGN THEIR NLI's with Tennessee after selling the program for XXX months ... not addressing his team and letting them know he was leaving ... that is bush league.

I have been around the block many years with regards to collegiate athletics. Have 16 years working in the field and have a strong network. I can tell you the only place that I have heard that likes Kiffin and thinks highly of is USC. Tennessee doesn't hold him in high regards. I can tell you that. And I'm talking about the school.

SID's talk all the time about coaches at conventions ... I will just leave it at that.

He isn't as highly respected as you think.

You Trojans have been extremely reasonable and supportive thus far. So answer this.........If Kiffin has to boot a kid off scholly to make room for Redd, are you OK with that? Cause if O'Brien did it I would be pissed.

Our board appears to be fairly split on this matter IF our backup centers scholarship is yanked... Which isn't even a given at this point due to eligibility questions of another incoming recruit.

Best to know the circumstances behind the player most often mentioned as possibly having their scholarship pulled before jumping to conclusions, though.

Abe Markowitz came into the program as a walk-on center in 2008 and redshirted.

    http://www.usctrojans.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/markowitz_abe00.html

In 2009, still as a walk-on, he only played briefly in the first game in a blowout against San Jose State.

In 2010, when USC's roster was raided, he was given a scholarship that opened up due to the departure of the players leaving to go elsewhere. Hard to say that he really earned it based upon his game performances, though. He didn't see any action at all, and missed the last seven games of the season due to a chronic foot injury and subsequent surgery.

In 2011, ( not sure if he got this keep his scholarship from the previous year) he missed spring practice due to another surgery on his foot, and followed up by missing the entire season and requiring ANOTHER foot surgery.

Tuition to USC is well over $50,000 a year now. Abe has already received at least one year of tuition for free, and quite possibly two... In spite of playing in portions of one game in three previous seasons.

Obviously his parents can afford the tuition at the school, so I'll withhold judgment to see what happens, and what Abe's response would be if his scholarship is indeed yanked.

Hamilton, you're certainly entitled to your own opinion... But you're NOT entitled to your own separate set of facts.

The Internet myth that Kiffin didn't address his team to inform them he was leaving is bogus. Anyone claiming to have worked 16 years in the field should know to fact check before misrepresenting fiction as fact, as well.

Attached is the ESPN article that discusses the meeting you claimed never took place between Kiffin and the Tennessee players.

And the fact that Tennessee doesn't hold him in high regards may be a badge of honor based upon their lunatic behavior during and after his departure. The guy paid the low buyout fee established by THEIR athletic director and left for his dream job.

And yet, there are STILL those who feign righteous indignation as if they wouldn't do the same thing if THEIR dream job suddenly opened up and their contract provided an out.

    Emotions running high in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Telling his players that he was leaving for the USC head-coaching job after only 14 months at Tennessee was dicey enough for Lane Kiffin.

Several players who were in that emotionally charged meeting said Kiffin was interrupted several times by players yelling out before he could actually tell them that he was indeed moving on.

I'm not faulting Kiffin. Kiffin is a used car saleman - he's putting in a full day's work here. Gotta make quota.

My fault is with Redd. I want leaders on my team. I want commitment. I guess he's a coward. Buh-bye.

would Redd still be a coward if he stays?

I think if there is a fan base that understands what you are going through it would be USC. WE BOTH HATE THE NCAA and weren't treated fairly by them. I for one don't agree with the PSU sanctions.

As for the scholly. No one who came to USC as a recruited athlete is going to lose a scholarship.

There are some reports that a current player isn't academically eligible.

The more likely scenario is that last year USC was below 85 that Kiffin gave WOs scholarships (scummy thing to do..i know) and that he only promised this WOs rides for 1 year. I don't really have an issue taking a scholarship back from a WO who never expected to get on in the first place.

As long as Lane Kiffen made the distinction that said player was on a year to year basis when/if USC had an extra ship available, that doesn't sound bad. Although, financially, it is really late to be pullying a scholarship for next year. USC ain't cheap.

Lane Kiffin would sell his mother, if he got a great offer. Don't kid yourself. Even if he told the kid his scholarship would be honored, it won't be.

I've never like Lane Kiffen, not that I've paid enough attention to him to form a knowledgable opinion....Mostly from what I've seen on ESPN and from general public opinion...we both know what that is worth.

Anyways, I don't think going after Silas is scummy. I hope Penn State reached out to Rutgers commits after Schiano left. Not exactly the same but similar.

Lets face it, many PSU fans are emotionaly drained, overly defensive, and with good reason. Probably time to lock this thread up.

  • Looks like Silas has quite a decision to make. Pretty different schools.

Can tell you one thing, they sure don't care about him as a person. One injury, not a star, and he's just another guy to throw in the garbage. The transfer would probably throw off his academic work too.

Those posts really helped me understand what Silas would be giving up. Basically he will have no home in the future.

If he goes to USC, he's just another hired gun. PSU would never forget it.

If he stays and lead his team, he is a hero forever.
