    It's because he is the face of a public company (ie Surma and Peetz) Their entire position in this situation is based upon ..."let's not upset the apple cart". "If we come out and condemn JVP and others as the media wants us to ...maybe we can limit bad publicity". It's never been about finding the truth whatever that is...it's always been about "public perception".

    I have to admit, I've seen the framed picture of Paterno in Frazier's office (below). Like everything else the man tries to spin, the story he tells isn't accurate.

    I really have been trying not to be a "conspirancy" theorist wacko but this whole situation makes no sense. He may be and I'm starting to believe it too.

  • Honestly I don't understand why the trustees continue to serve. I mean besides the fact that probably over 90% of PSU alumni want them gone. Why do they want to continue to subject themselves to the constant criticism and ridicule. These are mostly all wealthy successful people and I just don't see the incentive for them to continue to serve on the BOT. You would think they would realize it is in everyone's best interest and just resign.

    The only good reasons are 1) Pride and 2) they are trying to cover their own butts. Do you think the CEO of Merck or the President of BNY Mellon want to become known for wrongfully firing Joe Paterno? Or in Ken Fraziers case, for wrongfully bringing about enormously costly and damaging sanctions and a PR disaster to PSU? The answer is no, that just doesnt look good on a resume. Heck, even Adam Taliaferro has got to feel a conflict of interest. He works for Bristol-Myers Squibb, a local pharma in NJ who rivals Merck. Do you think Adam can look at this situation and with complete comfort and objectivity say he is going to battle it out publicly with Frazier, the CEO of Merck? I doubt it. And his bosses at BMS may even be instructing him on this issue as well. At the end of the day, we are seeing the true limitations of the basic structure and mission of a Board of Trustees. The function simply isnt designed to handle this kind of crisis in an effective and responsible manner. Too many natural conflicts of interest.
