It is what it is, is my favorite saying, and applies to yesterday and this past week perfectly. In the middle of all the meltdowns yesterday, I got really great news that over-shadowed everything - I don't have cancer. It's all about keeping things in perspective. Teenage boys are allowed to change their minds for whatever reason, as it is their choice to make. Let's help the new commits that we do have, restore the roar, with pride and dignity. After all, WE ARE.....

I agree. Actually, I find the knowledgebase and education that I get here much better than the other two sites, one of which seems to have a new thread every few minutes to whine about things. Now that is frustrating. Well, I'm done with yesterday. Thinking about and looking forward to tomorrow and the future.

The OL is a larger hinerance than the QB situation. In fact, the comparitive situation is potentially what cost us the QB. Nick Saban wouldn't win immediately with this group. It's going to take some time.

I don't even remotely agree with you. We have a ton of bodies on the OL with only two rising seniors, most of whom failed to develop purely due to the strength training program. Urschel, Smith, Mangiro, Gress, Dieff.. these are talented players. We also have time to bring in bodies to replace them.
QB is the most important position on the field by a mile, and we couldn't possibly be worse off at the position. It's also the hardest position to replace quickly and to build depth.

Too bad DOB didn't agree. 'Ton of bodies' is exactly that...bodies. Every program has bodies. Few have talent. The strength program wasn't the sole or even primary problem. We recruited a certain type of kid at the position...not one which typically excels at that position. The scheme did them no favors either, nor did the split in coaching assignments. It will improve over time, but you shouldn't expect much from this year's bunch. DOB didn't have the luxury of time, and he made a wise decision based on that factor.

Last year at this time I believe we only had Stanko commit. This year we already have a franchise QB, the #1 TE, a top 5 DE, etc. I wanted Danny badly, but it is not like we will have less talent at QB than we did last year. They can only get better under a coaching staff that coaches and intructs. ND is a player in recruiting, and I am glad MM went there instead of a B1G school..the same for Switzer going to UNC, who we will not play. This year we may take some bumps on the field, but we are way ahead of last year's recruiting and quite frankly losing a 3 star WR will not kill us. I think if we all were told 3 months ago we would have the commits that we currently do right now we would have thought that Saban or Meyer was our HC!!! As you can tell I am having a glass is half full day!

I guess I'm in the minority, but I don't see us not getting DOB a major downer. My opinion is that his announcement to UW is more of a problem, than us not getting him. I was hoping he would go back to the ACC or choose an SEC team.
Our quarterbacks have not performed to our expectations. OK, I know that, but let's wait awhile until we announce more doom for them. Let's see what they can do in a new system. Perhaps the coaching and the playbook will provide better performance. Having a less predictable offense should help tremendously. How many times in the past have we heard opposing team quotes that they knew what our offense was going to do before the play unfolded? It’s not difficult to make a play on the quarterback when you know where the play is going or a throw is telegraphed. New strategies and the ability of the QB to change the play at the line (Please allow an occasional audible) should produce a less predictable offensive scheme. BOB states his game plans will be situational. Hopefully his coaching will take into account the strengths of the individual players and develop plays to their strengths. That’s what coaching is all about, and with two coaches focusing on the QB, my hope is that they will improve the performance of the offense.
We’ve got decent recruits starting the next two years who should benefit from being in the system from the start. Having DOB for two years would have stretched out their development, and could have possibly lead Hack to reconsider his commitment.
My opinion is that as the strength and conditioning improves, the offense become more varied and unpredictable, and the individual coaching begins to show benefits, we will be glad that we did not get the services of DOB this year and next.

That puts things in perspective. I am happy for you. I don't have issues to that scale, but I have been going through a terrible separation from my wife of 16 years and she was not letting me see my younger 2 kids. This site was my only release from all of the stress of that. Well, I have them for the entire weekend and I can't get the smile off of my face. My older sons are excited as well (they live with me). It is gonna be a great weekend..on a personal level as well as a Penn State football level!!
