Justin King signs with Colts

  • Here's a brief blurb from Rotoworld ...

"Colts signed CB Justin King, formerly of the Rams.

The 2008 fourth-rounder was routinely toasted in coverage while playing through groin, ankle, and shoulder injuries as a fill-in for starter Ron Bartell last season. If he's healthy following post-season shoulder surgery, King will add much-needed experience to a green secondary in Indy. "

I am a Rams fan and can validate that "toast" was the best term to use to describe his performance. The extent of his playing with injuries was not widely known, so hopefully he can have a better year in 2012.

    Good luck Justin.

No, I'm a Colts fan. My buddy from HS plays for the Texans though.

  • I liked Justin when he was here. To say his pro career has been a let down is an understatement. I live between Chicago, Indy and StL so I catch almost all the games from these teams. JK looked BAD the last two years. Some publication, I believe, recently named him the worst CB in the league last year.

    MTayl72

  • Honestly, the fact that he still is getting a look from another team is a tribute to his talent. He was a 4th round pick in 2008...meaning there have been FOUR more drafts since he came into the league and dozens of other cornerbacks coming into the league that were tremendous players in college at their own right. King has been plagued with injuries and apparently from the comments above looked terrible when on the field...yet...an NFL personnel department still thought he was a viable option for their team.

    Hope he stays healthy.

  • He shouldn't have left early.....

  • The "worst" CBs do NOT draw paychecks. King has been going to the bank for 4 years with a contract for the 5th. Don't you qualify for a pension after 5 seasons?

He/they said "worst in the League" There is a worst at every position in the NFL. So yes, the "worst in the League" do get paychecks. I'm not saying he is or isn't the wors, just that the worst do get paid.

Not sure I understand................Do you mean something like " The poorest multi millionaire at the country club?????"

Bottom line is that I do not buy into the 365 day a year NFL talking heads hype. When making lists the #1 rule is to name players than people know. Big school and great combine dash time and 4 years of service has made King known to NFL fans.
All in all King is a very successful professional athlete! 4 years and counting in the NFL is not a bad resume!!

Yes, I mean something along those lines.

There is always a worst. Don't care what industry you work in or where you work. There is always an employee that is the best and one that is the worst.

Take the starting QB's of all 32 NFL teams. There is a best and there is a worst. The worst is still getting paid. I'm NOT saying King, or anyone else in specific, is the best or worst at their position. I'm not saying to listen to the talking heads as to who the best and worst are. I'm simply saying there IS a best and there IS a worst and that the worst IS getting paid.

OK Pete, I see your point. BUT, I think you need to add the words "Starting player" or "Regular player" to the list. There are always team players (getting paid) who don't see the field very much except for special teams. In reality they are probably "worst" than the starters at their positions.
I am not saying King is a good or great player. But, the NFL is a very tough and unforgiveing business. (Except for coaching which seems to have a huge depotism issue.) Players are released most every day of the year. Many are to never play in the league again. Remember football's minor league (NCAA football) provides a seemingly endless supply of players.
I just think any player who is still under contract and has lasted 4 full seasons should NOT be on any "worst" lists!

  • Say what you want about Justin at the pro level, but he was amazing in high school & college. I remember when he played for Gateway against my high school when I was in the 7th grade. He touched the ball only 7 times on offense as tailback for 6 touchdowns & over 300 yards rushing. He also had 2 pick-sixes (granted, my high school sucked at football). But he was just running and playing at an entirely different speed than everyone else, truly mesmerizing to watch. I remember thinking, "God I hope he goes to Penn State!"

I still think he should have stayed at WR.

  • Anyone know what they call the person who graduates last from Med School or Law School?

I guess I should warn you, if I turn out to be particularly clear, you've probably misunderstood what I've said.

That's fine, I'm just surprised you're talking football biggrin.

Justin's potential was always on the defensive side of the ball. He could have been a good WR as well, don't get me wrong. But go ask Robert Meachem how good Justin King was when he showed up.

    A DR. or a Lawyer.

Do you know what they call someone who fails out of medical school?
