You are an idiot. A coverup by the AD and head football coach deservedly should result in a heap of shame and scorn from the entire college football world. Paterno was a coward who looked the other way for the sake of wins and his pathetic legacy. His statue should be melted. Sell the metal for scrap and donate the proceeds to victims of child abuse. This situation is the single most disgraceful thing I've ever seen in college sports, and I've been around for 50 plus years. I am shocked that your fans and alumi haven't demanded action already. You are facing millions in damages, fines, and probably (hopefully) sanctions. Your mascot should be the ostrich.

Baximus, remember that time you wrote an article on Bucknuts saying:
"Which is why it was so shocking to me that Dr. Anzalone brazenly told the Reading Eagle that “Something’s just not right at Ohio State” when the sex offender news broke. Now, I know that the sound-minded folks of Central Pennsylvania (which regrettably doesn’t include the hamlet of State College) are extraordinarily sensitive to stuff like this in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal right down the road, but to imply that something was wrong at Ohio State vis-à-vis sex offenses is the height of irresponsibility.
One place is a Podunk mountain town which still doesn’t get the full implications of having an icon raping little boys in their football building. The other is in a major city where quick and decisive action was taken by the university to protect their students from a creeper who was in no way associated with the institution and never will be. "
I do.

I know when posters say "I am not trolling", they are typically trolling. But I really have an honest observation/question.
You see this in many threads, but I noticed it here as well. If you read through this thread, it appears a couple PSU posters are more than happy to accept the fact that PSU may/will(?) be hit with lawsuits, issues with Clery Act, maybe issues with Title IX, possibilities of losing state/federal funding. In this thread, as soon as an OSU poster said (I will paraphrase), it's not a football issue it's much bigger and this bigger thing will hit the university even HARDER, this OSU poster was applauded (with an emoticon). And again, I see this in many threads. Upvotes for any poster who says this is not a football issue.
It's all speculation and attorneys guessing and talking right now, but based on the ways the state or government or lawsuits can come at you in the areas I referred to above, these things could be devastating to PSU, the university-not the football program (actually, maybe even the football program as a by-product). So why are you happy to accept this potentially large hammer but so staunchly fight for your football program?
I mean if it's just criminal acts and it should be kept to that-as is the argument for why the football program should be left alone-then these 4 or however many should go to jail and it's over. In other words, would the argument be-it's criminal acts by a rogue few so leave the university alone as well?
Do you all agree with the state/fed having the authority to come at you with Clery Act and Title IX accusation/fines?? Or do you think the state/feds have no place in this (other than the criminal aspects of these men) just like the NCAA does not have a place?
Maybe you all are discussing this in VIP threads that I cannot read, I don't know. But it's something I don't see discussed too often. I know this is a football board, but the reason you all are so passionate about PSU football is that you are passionate about PSU (I assume).

Don't think anyone's happy about it.
I think the key is that people are willing to accept the penalties that we've deserved. According to the evidence, we deserve penalties for not following the Clery Act. We also deserve lawsuits.
We do not deserve football sanctions. That's why so many upvotes for the people who recognize that.
Things will be tough. Money is not unlimited. However, PSU will work to make changes and cooperate with the departments who actually have authority over this matter.

There is a good bit of discussion in VIP threads.
" it appears a couple PSU posters are more than happy to accept the fact that PSU may/will(?) be hit with lawsuits, issues with Clery Act, maybe issues with Title IX, possibilities of losing state/federal funding."
It's not that we are happy about it, but it would appear that PSU leaders are guilty and the University has to accept punishment. Some or all of what you noted may be the punishment administered. You will not find many posters on this site that don't agree that punishment for the leadership is due.
"So why are you happy to accept this potentially large hammer but so staunchly fight for your football program?"
This one has lively debate on the board. Some think the sports programs should pay a price for Joe's poor judgement. Some ask what did the football program do wrong?
The other question is regarding the NCAA charter, why are they in existence? They are in existence to assure fair competition among the members. PSU did not gain a competitive advantage on the field due to Joe's poor judgement, hence the NCAA shouldn't have a case for sanctions due to competitive advantage. Other feel that the NCAA should set precedence due to the nature of the JS crimes. It's a lively debate.

Classic pile-on from a Michigan Mod attacking OSU Mod while adding no value to the thread. I think this defines troll - please get a life and look at the bigger picture that is being discussed. Disgusting.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the PSU fan base. What a terrible tragedy and I hope for a speedy recovery to a great university. It will probably get worse before it gets better, but you will recover.
