The worst part about the loss is that it's what the NCAA and media wanted. Every Penn State fan wanted to shove this season down their throats by winning as much as possible with a big f u to all the naysayers. It was never realistic to expect a 12-0 season, but 8-4 or 9-3 was possible depending on the play calling and execution.
Based on what I saw (and a lot of others) on Saturday, we're probably going to be a .500 team this year and it will be tough to dig ourselves out in future years due to the sanctions. This and the coming years is what will separate the fair weather fans from the true fans. We need to continue to support the football team, the local economy and Penn State through these growing pains no matter how we fair on the field.
Appreciate the note PK5 and I agree with your statement.

Losing is difficult no matter what way you look at it. Some of the positives that I saw were discipline (1 penalty), mcgloin and the receivers/ tight ends. I know we dropped some passes but Allen Robinson is looking like a go to guy. It was the first game and there are still plenty of things to work out including proper defense as Ohio was not a team to blitz. UVA will be tuff I watched them beat fsu in Tallahassee last year. They are disciplined but lack big play guys. Their qb is a pocket passer and rb is serviceable and smart - watch the wheel route!! They are also disciplined on defense and refuse to allow big plays. With all that being said we should be able to get some pressure on the qb and force some mistakes. I expect a psu win along the lines of 20-17.

Above everything else, this team and fanbase needs to shed the black cloud hanging over its head. Being up 14-3 and having a bad luck play happen doesn't spell doom. You get up and punch them in the mouth and keep going. But that did not seem to happen. The team folded.
And if you were there, I want someone to tell me the crowd was not out of it at 17-14. Once we got behind, it was a sense of loss and it was still the fourth quarter. But we had no confidence in the team's ability to come back. No confidence that MM could lead them back from the momentum shift.
Sure the Defense was horrific on third down. But the O needed to give them some help. We only gave up 24 points. We got the ball on two separate possessions down by only 3. But the offense was done.
From the Green side ... They schemed well against our personnel, and Tettleton was on fire. It was a precision attack. So you give it to them for their preparation and execution. We need to better defend that type of attack or it will be repeated all year.

Just wanted to give my opinion about the weekend...
