Just back from the game here are my thoughts

  • Overall we won and did it without much of an issue so that is good to see...

On Offense it was a weird day... We ran them over blocked so well and opened HUGE HOLES.......We then could not block Joe if he was a pass rusher.... so that is a HUGE concern and not a good sign..

QBs- Sorry it is over for ROBO the kid is a robot and looks so awkward out there... The drop was terrible by Moye but he under threw it and avoided stepping up and putting it on the money... Robo also was locked onto his left side and refuses to slide... He brought zero tempo and just looked bad. I saw zero improvement from last year...

McGloin looked OK he brought some tempo but still locks on and makes bad decisions...

Overall F We need a major jump

RBs - Redd, BB , Zordich repeat those guys can all play at an elite level

Overall A keep it up and getting reps and we will win some games

WRs - Poor routes, concentration and effort F

OL - C we ran well and Joe KOed Bolden at one point on the rush

DL - DTs A DEs F Crawford is so damn weak once someone gets their hands on him he is done...

LBers B - did not stand out but did not have a reason too...

CBs - B same as LBers

S - Astorino looked like a totally different player he was awesome today and needs to stay deep and aggressive

STs - returns were good kicker sucks we need Fera back badly...

Crowd was pretty good for being so hot and such an weak opponent...

LOVED the new faces in the stands seemed like a lot of the older generation was not there lets hope it stays that way we need new blood and some energy this year

All in all a solid C for the day... I would let ROBO start against Bama since they will get a kill shot on our QB (our OLINE WAS rough) so let the guy who refuses to figure it out take the hit then see if McGloin can do anything...

I think we can beat BAMA but we need to get a QB to figure it out and we need our DEs / OL to sack up and stop being so damn soft

  • Only a few nits. First, i think the pass to Moye was pretty close to on the money. Thats the way it looked on TV and replay at least. It was a ball that should have been easily caught. Second, agree on the OL but wow, the backs were terrible picking up the blitz. That is a serious issue.
Finally, i am really sad if Farrell is out for good. We really have 3 tackles ready to play and losing him would really hurt.

  • I agree with Kurt. That pass was all on Moye, it couldn't have been thrown too much better. As tdiddy referenced early, expect Donovan Smith to burn his shirt if Farrell is gone for the year.

  • Ball was thrown very high..... too much arch caused Moye to come to a near stop and the DB to get in and make a play

Sorry, that was a good pass by Bolden. I expect the best receiver on the team who is 6' 5" to use his body to shield defender, attack that ball and grab it for a TD. Could the pass have been better, sure. Could Moye make a better play on the ball, absolutely!

I'm 90% sure only moye touched Tgat ball, I don't care if you have time to stop and read a book under it, if it hits both your hands and only your hands you have to catch it

  • As I saw the play.... Moye beat his man Bolden saw him and did not step into his throw he put too much loft on it and it made Moye slow down... He then has it hit his hands and as he flubs it the DB hits him and the ball hits the ground..

If Bolden leads him Moye runs through it and does not need to slow up... bad play for both

  • That pass to moye was dead perfect. Bolden couldn't of handed it to him better.

The brown pass was off but I don't think he could step into it, but I think it was catchable

LOL WHAT!?!?! Moye had to come to a "near stop?" You are the king of hyperbole.

That's not true at all. Robo put it on his hands and it was a drop...he didn't slow, he didn't have to speed up, he just flat dropped it. Neither QB was near impressive today, but the passing playbook was limited. I'm no McGloin fan, but he looked like a very good backup today...problem is Robo didn't look enough like a starter. I'm at a loss...

  • Agreed. I was in the student section and the pass literally happened about 10 feet from me, it was right over the defender and hit Moye right in the hands, in stride. It couldn't have been thrown any better.
Brown's pass wasn't perfect, but again it was right over the defender and hit him right in the hand. That should've been a touchdown.

This. It was a perfect throw, Moye just dropped it. The Brown pass wasn't perfect due to Bolden getting smacked in the face, but it was a very catchable ball and hit Brown right in the hands. Should have had 2 TDs.

  • the brown pass was a more difficult catch as it was (from the TV angle, and looked) slightly behind him.

Moye's should have been a TD, or at the very least first and goal.

The way I would describe it is browns catch is one you would expect a big time receiver to bring in 50% of the time... Definitely unserthrown but definitely catchable

It was actually a bit ahead of Brown, not behind (haven't watched it again to see if Brown slowed down but it didn't seem so during the original play and rewind). The defender tried to swipe for his hand from behind as Brown raised it, but on replay looks like he whiffed. It was a well placed ball and should have been caught.

Just watched the Moye drop 6-7 times on DVR and in the words of my father "Wow, what a perfect throw." Drops back, flicks wrist, and leads the receiver right to the end zone hitting him in the hands. I'm sure Moye was very upset with himself. Bolden seemed shake it off.

I'm not sure where the "robot" commentary is coming from, he was/is anything but. My biggest complaint is trying to get extra yards instead of sliding. Let the RBs drop their shoulders, no the QB.

  • Agreed re: the DE's (2010 all over again). All the pass rush came up the middle... good day for the DTs. Olaniyan and Baublitz looked like they have filled in very nicely. Praying that we see them on the field instead of Crawford. What the hell happened to that guy?

  • Great throw. Great d.

    Moye should have caught it.

  • Bolden to Moye was a near perfect pass. I don't disagree with the rest of your assessment on him, but you lose all credibility IMO with your thoughts on that pass. when you claim he almost came to a complete stop it makes me wonder if you even saw the play.....

This is it. Bottom line..senior 6-5 WR who is a Captain playing a 1aa school HAS to catch that ball.
