  • Though this is the only way this could play out (Joe stepping down), it is a shame to see his legacy marred and ended by such a case. My heart goes out to the victims we could have helped, and it still pumps blue and white.

  • Colin Cowherd and the media will demand he not coach this weekend - well Colin already is. This sucks. Joe must give his side of the story - TODAY and it needs to be logical enough to explain why he didn't do more so that the fire subsides. Otherwise we may not get to say goodbye to our beloved head coach.

  • I got the Bleacher Report email...I got the chills...regardless of what has happened, I would have felt the same way if nothing happened...an end of an era. I wanted him to go because it was time, but not like this. WE ARE!!!

And he should't. Joe says he doesnt want to be a distraction. Well WTF does he think he will be if he coaches on Sat???

Try to fathom the hypocrisy of a Government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured .but not prove they're a citizen

I say let him stay for Sat and that's it...no reason after that.

  • Keep in mind that this is Joe's statement, almost guaranteed to be done without approval from the BOT. What the BOT decides could be entirely different.

Disagree. He'd be more of a distraction if he wasn't there. The place would feel dead, people would be looking in the booth, etc... This way it's "business as usual", at least an attempt, and the players can still go on feeling as if everything is the same.

It's not like he's been on the field anyway. The bigger distraction will be if Red isn't there. Because that COULD mean Jay will have to be on the field. Oh goodness.

You honestly think after all of this that the would be any less of a distraction if he wasn't there? Really?

  • The crowd's reaction should be extremely interesting with this officially being Joe's last home game.

Yes, if he's not there at least we wont have people asking how je can still be coaching the team etc....at least if he idnt that is 1 less thing to dea with/talk about.

Its gonna be very distracting no matter what but your (not you personally) kidding yourself if you (again not aimed at you) if you think Joe coaching wont add to it

  • The atmosphere on Saturday should be absolutely electric!!! Hottest ticket on the internet. I'm glad I will be a part of it and witness his final game in Beaver Stadium but under these circumstance definitely puts a damper on things.

You really believe "business as usual" is the best course of action in all of this? Acting like everything is normal instead of facing issues head on? Isn't that exactly what Mcqueary did when he saw the kid being sodomized? Instead of acting then and there, he went home and told daddy as if all he saw was a fellow GA stealing staplers from JoePa's office. Tough situations always calls for people to stand up with boldness. "Business as usual" only exacerbates the problem.

I was thinking he meant as it pertains to the game only. I don't want to speak for him though. Before you or someone comes at me, I see what you were saying.

During gameday, yes...I think business as usual is important. Especially for the players. They need to keep their routine as much as possible to go out and play effectively. Simple as that.

Linking this to Mcquery seeing a crime being committed is just not accurate at all. I agree MM did the wrong thing and should have called the cops. But that is in no way equal to allowing Joe to finish out so the players can keep their routine and still have a successful season for themselves.

  • It's a major blunder to allow him to coach another game as it serves to put more emphasis on Joe Paterno than the victims. It will backfire to give the university another blackeye.

Are you serious? A bunch of children get victimized, the university covers it up, and you want to talk about ticket prices being a premium? That's messed up!

Right. Apparently all we are allowed to do is run around and wring our hands. Most of us have known about the Sandusky rumors for some time. At some point we all need to have a diversion from this mess.

The students are wearing all blue FOR the victims. What else can they do for the victims during an actual game?

I am, in no way, questioning your loyalty to your successful program, or implying that the fans should do anything more. But to be more excited about the premium price that the ticket is now worth, rather than to express sympathy for the victims just sounds wrong.

It's about Joe Paterno because the media wants it to be about him. He has been the story all week. Not Sandusky, not the victims and not even Curley, Schultz, McQueary or 2nd mile. The media went on no facts and convicted Joe Paterno of moral wrong. The story would be about him regardless on Saturday as well.
