Personal assaults, glad to see we are all mature here.
Name calling is the last resort taken by someone that doesn't want a mature debate or discussion. Glad to see that's what kind of website we are running here.

Right, because I go and personally insult people I disagree with. That's the last thing I do. I use factual evidence which people disagree with. It's fine, you don't have to agree with it - but you can at least be civil.
I'll go back to watching Joe Pa let another player run wild with drugs or alcohol back on the team , if and only if the depth chart requires it. Ala Green, Johnson, Fera, etc etc.
Heck, maybe there can be another fight at the Ice Rink and someone can throw an individual through a trophy case and barely miss any time.
Or maybe we can have another break-in and assault and have the punishment be clean a portion of the stadium for a game or two.

Because if they are simply each getting a quarter in the 1st half, then a lot of other stuff dictates their success. The guy getting the start may be at a disadvantage as the running game may not be going yet or o-line. Field position can affect things in each quarter. Suppose McGloin gets 2nd quarter and we get a punt return early in that quarter, but the guy fumbles it? Suppose ISU somehow manages a 7 minute drive in the 2nd quarter while they barely had the ball in the 1st quarter.
Using this as ANY gauge is just lame, IMO. Having to literally go INTO the season to figure out who the best guy is, rather than the previos 8 months, is just dumb.

That's the thing, both QBs had a chance to win the job outright and neither could do it. So, why not prove it on the field?
It's a competition. Sometimes in competitions, you only get one shot. Mess up, and you are done. Too bad... it's time to man up. If you really want it, prove it on the field. It's as simple as that.

Could be wrong...but they've been on the field for the past 4 weeks and in spring practice. All that means nothing then. One game, against a horrible team, when conditions can be different for both guys at different points in the games......that matters more than weeks of watching them day in and day out? Sorry....makes no sense.
It's nothing about proving it on the field, if you read my post. It's about situations IN GAMES having different circumstances where one guy may simply have more of an advantage than another guy. Doesn't matter who your horse is in the race, either of the QB's could be fortunate to get good field position all the time, while the other doesn't. It's one game...and to truly use it as a measuring stick is pathetic. Scrimmages in practice were against better competition than this one.

I like Danny boy as well. He has done a tremendous job at a school that usually fails miserably and is tough to recruit premium talent to. He has PA ties as well. He is young and energetic. That said, I just don't see PSU thinking a coach from the biggest whore house on earth, the SEC, is a good fit. I could be wrong, but ...

Dan Mullen, to me is Urban with no drama and no negative player conduct (so far). I don't think over signing has been an issue, and I think he'd stick around here for a long time and do well.
Unless there are real problems they better get over the SEC thing. Mullen hasn't sacrificed honor for success from what I've seen.

It's not Mullen ... its an SEC thing. Every program in that league, sans Vanderbilt, takes shortcuts. Mullen has worked at two schools that have been known to take these shortcuts. Its just my opinion as to if Mullen doesn't get a phone call when Joe hangs it up. I'm NOT a Meyer supporter at all either. I don't like one thing he stands for.

md, my point is that they were basically even in practice, so you can't use that. Typically (99% of the time), yes, practice and scrimmages should determine the depth chat. But when guys are even, you have to go to the next thing which is live game action. There literally is no other way to determine it.
