This must be really rough for Jay. I'm sure it's been a tough 7 months for him, he's had a lot happen to him.
His defense of Joe just shows that he's a good son who loved his father. But I think it's a little naive of him to think that the story will change in any significant way based on sworn testimony.

There were definetly "red flags" that were missed or failed to be acted on by a lot of people. Some of which were trained professionals. The '98 incident was investigated by trained professional. JS adopted and had a number of foster children. The adoption and foster care process involves background checks and investigations by trained professionals. Those involved with the Second Mile........ JS deceived a number of individuals.
Jay and the family have done a pretty good job with interviews and statements to this point.

Of course that's part of the reason.
Joe steps down and then his son gets let go right away. Dad had to beg and plead with JMU and UVA to get him jobs that he royally screwed up. (Nothing like being seen at a PSU game when you're supposed to be on a recruiting visit.)
Joe held on so Jay and the kids and grand-kids could all stay nice and close to him and Sue.
