I really want Waters but I am bullish on Bench. I don't assume that at all. For me, in a perfect world a competition between Bench and Waters makes both better. I would love nothing more than for Bench to be a 3 yr starter to have Hack then start 2. That sort of experience and stability at the QB position would be awesome.

I don't think that is an accurate assessment. There are a number of people I'm sure that don't think Waters automatically starts. It will be a competition and like you said Bench has a head start being in the system for a year all ready. The fact is we desperately need a Juco QB for depth and Waters appears to be the best option.

Because, Bill knows full well you don't bring in a JC transfer in this instance to play second fiddle to a raw sophomore that only had 12 snaps in this frosh career. Whether Waters starts or not is not the debate. First, you have to get him here. While he doesn't have the command of PSU's offense, he brings alot more playing experience than does Bench, which amounts to something. He is also a winner as proven by his team winning a national title. While Bench has some physical tools, don't dismiss what Waters could bring to the table. You seem to be doing just that. I think I know more about Waters than I do Bench. Sorry, 12-15 plays isn't a good snapshot. He has some tools, but the sample size isn't strong.

I would give the advantage to Waters if he makes it on campus and plays for PSU as the starter. I'm not convinced Bench is the starter if a winning and experienced JC transfer with the talents and skills of a Waters shows up on campus.
