I will be extremely disappointed if they waited all this time, only to name Bradley the head coach. It's nothing against Bradley, it's just that they shouldn't have spent so much time trying to get a big fish and have it not pan out. If that is the case and it doesn't pan out for a bigger fish, it's likely because of something on the candidates end but then my question is, why even pursue talks with them if there was no hope of a deal getting done? Seems like we are willing to pay top dollar for a coach, if need be, so money shouldn't even be a factor here for any of the candidates I would presume we are after.

You don't go all this way to just name Bradley as the head coach. If Bradley was the play by PSU, the dog and pony show would have ended; the secrecy would have ended a while back.

I agree!! I like Bradley a lot, but there is definitely a big fish in play here, and it is a mutual interest. I am leaning toward Petersen at this time. I would prefer Munchak, but the more I think about it, the more it does not make sense on his end. I think by the end of next week Petersen is out recruiting Player X and bringing him to HV where he belongs!!!

While, I don't think it's Bradley either, a case could be made for waiting this long to announce Bradley. Suppose PSU knew about McQueary's credibility coming into question a few weeks ahead of us, maybe they wanted it to go public before announcing, or were confident the case will get thrown out on Friday, making it easier to announce Bradley and receive less back lash from the media. That's whats so frustrating about this search, you really can't make any accurate guesses as to what's going on.

I'm still not buying Munchak. Can't see a career NFL coach, who's spent 30 years with the Titans/Oilers organization, and may have found a young franchise QB leaving.

Got to ask and I'm curious in your response - why do you prefer Munchak over a Peterson?

Player X doesn't come to Happy Valley because of Peterson. It depends on who the DL coach is. That said, LJ or not, I don't see player X coming to Happy Valley. Not buying PSU is still in the cards. He showed his cards with that tweet to me.

I agree with this. Taking Jake Locker out of the picture here though, I think your first sentence makes the most sense. He's been in the NFL for a very long time and has worked his way up from the bottom and is now a head coach. I have a hard time imagining he would want to leave that after putting in the hard work for so long to get to where he is at.

The longer this goes, the bigger name he better be. I would be willing to lose every recruit right now to get a big name. The recruits will come back at that point. Now if we wait until Jan. and hire the Harvard guy, then we will become Vandy and Duke.

They wouldn't wait for someone of that level of quality. They have common sense.

And that is why I think kids are being very short sided when they speak with Meyer. They see a name; they see a guy that has won titles; however, the fail to see the credibility issues with the man and the fact there is a good chance he won't be there by their senior year. Anyone who signs on the dotted line for Meyer is only doing it because of his name; not what he stands for.

Pretty sound reasoning, IMO. I do think they've been trying for big fish. Whether they've been successful or not will be determined when they name the HC. I completely agree with diddy here.

I would hope the higher ups have sense and know what happens to the school; to the football program and to the entire athletic department, if they wait this long and make a hire like that. That would be a self-imposed death penalty not only for the football program, but the entire athletic department since football pays the bills and the lack of interest in the program as well as donations would dwindle like you wouldn't believe.

Vandy seems to be heading in the right direction under franklin.
