I can't even believe I'm responding to this post. Its really depressing that I seem to be arguing with PSU fans (and/or alumni) of how great our university is. I'm going to assume you didn't attend PSU. To say one bad head coaching hire turns PSU into Lock Haven is beyond absurd.

No. How much? Tuition has nothing to do with football. State funding has nothing to do with football. Research funding has nothing to do with football. I believe those are the three largest sources of revenue for the university. Any profits from the athletic department, which would be peanuts in comparison to the budget of the university just go back into the athletic department. Unless I'm missing something, I don't realize how much money our academics gain because of football.
Some here have attributed joining the Big 10, which IS likely due to the football team's success, and it's association with the CIC as a source of increased funding that we would not otherwise have had access to. However, IIRC, someone posted data in the last few days that Penn State's increase in research funding over the last few decades mirrored that of the entire country and that the CIC did not provide any statistically significant increase. So, I call B.S.

I've been trying to follow this advice. But some times as the OP has indicated it is difficult to hold faith in the PSU brand in the face of some of the info. being released. But I will stick with you, no gloom and doom until we know who the next HC will be.

The reference to PSU becoming Lock Haven is way over the top IMO. But it is consistant with a Philafan post!
