How many on here are ex Rivals/BWI'ers, and how many....

  • Being a full-blown PSU football junkie I'm a current paying member of all three sites. I have to be to keep feeding that monkey on my back. It's desperate, pathetic, and really quite sad in a way. I'm just praying nobody opens up a fourth site.

    I get why they do it, but annoying your customer base isn't exactly good business practice. There's a reason why most online services don't pull that crap.

    Agreed. It sucks. But it works. We have been paying for an LA Fitness membership for over a year, even though it is unused, because we have to go into the club to quit, and we have not managed to actually do so yet.

    It works in the short term, but it probably scares away potential returning customers.

    I know I'll never go back to Rivals no matter how much they may improve, just because I don't want to jump through hoops if I have to cancel again.

  • I left BWI years ago. That place was awful. I only kept it for as long as I did because I liked the Rivals recruiting mainboard.

    FOS is still great. Brennan is terrific, and there is no one on the PSU beat that I respect more. His coverage of the program is unequaled.

    Obviously though, recruiting coverage has really suffered over there. To their credit, they appear to be working on correcting that.

  • I never actually felt compelled to sign up for any of the other sites. I just read the free stuff and free boards to get a bit of info. I found 247 shortly after it opened and always check it in the same way. A few months ago, I noticed that this site had a lot more up to date and breaking premium news so I thought I would check it out on free trial. I loved it and was hooked from that point on.

    Now, when I go to those other sites, they're just boring and never have the breaking news that 247 brings. Hell, I might even dealt the short cut to each of those sites from my browser tool bar....

    Good luck getting ahold of anyone. I don't know if this is just happening to me but I sit here and call and call without any luck, it gets old really fast.. It has shown me that 247 is truly the best out there

    I'm sure if they PM Brennan or Harrington on FOS that they'd take care of them, or put you in contact with the right people. The same is probably true for the folks over at BWI. Can you modify or delete your CC information like you can on 247?

    I think very few people have had to worry about cancelling their Lions247 subscription so far.

    Still with Brennan, but the culture of that board is built around a few posters and their disciples. It's very uninviting, especially to new folk.

  • I've been going month to month with FOS almost canceling a few times, then with the news of Cory's departure yesterday, I called to cancel and the girl offered me two free months, so what the heck. Like others have said, the TAP board itself is pretty good, and I love the barometers and team coverage, but lets face it, we all prefer the recruiting coverage and 24/7 kills it in that regard. So 3 months from now I'll likely be an ex-FOS'er, but one things for certain, I'm 99% sure I'll be a permanent 24/7 member.

  • FOS is fantastic - no one on the beat has better access, more interesting interviews & stories, or provides better coverage 365/coverage of the PSU football program & other non-football sports than Mark Brennan. Brennan is the best in the business with regards to PSU sports.

    Also, the TAP community is the best messgae board of the 3 sites.

    That said, 24/7 is whipping the pants off of the other two sites with regards to recruiting coverage. What Fitz is doing with recruiting news here is very very impressive. 24/7 is by far the best recruiting board for PSU, especially now with Qhourrhiey in the mix.

    I'll keep my FOS membership - its still the best overal site - it's "okay' to be a member at more than one board.

    BWI? That's just a clown show. . . . I can't believe people pay for the Wig's "news" ...BWI is junk.

    No doubt that 24/7 is King of PSU Recruiting right now. It's not close.

    But not everyone is a recruiting junkie. Many people find following recruiting to be annoying, and only want to read the list of kids on LOI day.

    It's what you want ... different people like different things.
    Personally, I'd rather be in tune more-so with the team than recruiting.

    FOS does a great job on actually following & reporting on the players we have, the football program during all 12 months, and the other non-football PSU sports. FOS does a nice job with both hoops teams, womens volleyball, Cael's wrestling program, etc. You cant even find that stuff on 24/7 - it's not Fitz's focus.

    They are both great sites, but clearly have different areas of focus right now.
