How long till OSU looks like this

  • chunkfat8 said...

He had one mediocre year? Also Carlos Hyde has gotten 100 yard games this year. And many people especially OSU fans wouldn't mind one bit if Guiton had to take over QB duties.

I'd much rather play Braxton and a one-dimensional offense than Guiton who can throw.

Obviously not nearly as dynamic, but the passing threat would do a much better job of keeping the defense honest, giving babyBraxton and Hyde some more room to run.

  • Well then it looks like PSU won since Braxton will probably be playing and were one-dimensional now.

Are you being serious or sarcastic? I really do hope we win and if you play Braxton and we win that is just the cherry on top of an awesome sundae from Dairy Queen...

Who's job was it to help develop the QB. It's Meyer. John Brantley was supposed to be a Heisman type of QB coming out of high school. The kid flopped. Florida's roster, talent wise, wasn't as strong as it was. Many high end recruits didn't live up to expectations. The cupboard was bare in Gainesville by Florida standards.

All those high end recruits are living up to expectations. Elam, Powell, Easley, Floyd and Jenkins, when healthy, have all made a big impact on defense.

And kids flop, it does happen. You think because Brantley didn't live up to hype all of a sudden Meyer led that team to shambles?

I agree the offensive cupboard was bare but every single player on this years team that is making an impact was recruited by Meyer. Truth is the truth, he didn't leave the team that devoid of talent.

So ... if Florida was devoid of talent when he left relative to Florida standards and now, in the second year of a new coaching staff, they are playing at a high level. Could it be Muschamp and crew know how to develop players?

Brantley was a failure. Meyer didn't have Plan B at that time because he thought Brantley was the man. Florida's offense his last year was anemic. Hell, if McGloin didn't throw six interceptions that game, PSU wins by 21 at least. McGloin has taken a major leap forward that Brantley couldn't do.

Urb's offensive failures toward the end of his Florida stint were traced to Dan Mullen bolting for MS State. Mullen was Urb's security blanket on offense. Once that security blanket was yanked away, his offense sucked. He failed at developing players.

I do not think he was ever our dream coach...there were SO Many rumors floating around as to who the next coach would be including Meyer...a lot of the regular posters on here were not a fan of him. I am sure we are jealous..both teams are playing well and it should be a great game Saturday...

I agree it will be a great game, I am definitely looking forward to it. O'Brien has done a great job with your program so far and I am happy to see that.

No one is questioning Urban's ability to recruit great players. What people are questioning is his coaching ability and ability to manage those players. It sounds from this article that his management of his players caused issues. It is also worth pointing out that he's only ever succeeded when he had excpetional QBs (Tebow and Smith). He had numerous blue chip QBs after Tebow at UF but couldn't win.

They don't have anyone new on the UF roster this year. They are #2 because Muschamp has finally weeded out those that wouldn't fall in line and has gotten the rest to buy in to his system and he's finally coached up Driskel. Do you really think OSU would be doing as well this year if Braxton Miller was a wonderkid? His defense sucks royally, even though it is stocked with 4/5 star prospects. He's loaded with top RB prospects, but just like at UF, they don't have any running game outside of when their QB totes the rock.

It will be very interesting to see what happens in 2-3 years when Miller is no longer on the team. Very, very interesting. We all know Urban can't handle losing.

Lol are defense sucks against spread teams!!!!..... Speed kills and this will be the slowest team we face all year so I think will be just fine......

Indiana isn't a fair example, they've got 4.3's all over that offense.

thank you for viewing this objectively. this is the type of thing that makes me respect other posters. not blind ignorance and posting what one wants to be true (this happens a lot on bucknuts too) but viewing things how they really are from a fairly unbiased point of view
    +1 to you

Sounds like the vast majority of OSU fans doesn't know anything about PSU football, and posts reak of ignorance about our program. Remember, this is a PSU board, not an OSU board. There are thousands of ridiculous posts and statements about PSU over there. Remember where you are right now. One of your idiots comes over and predicted a 45-17 OSU victory because this is the slowest PSU team he has ever seen. Sound ridiculous? Absolutely.

We aren't here to appease OSU and its fans/posters. You guys have posted a variety of vile stuff about this program filled with ridiculousness, so what's the difference if you don't like his post?

notice my next post which was immediately after the one you quoted. i acknowledge that we have more than our fair share of morons. i just choose not to post in a similar fashion. i also thanked other posters for stating things objectively not only in my last post, but also in PMs very often.
i love sports and sports talk but cant stand homers even though i suppose because i like OSU i would be considered one. i like unbiased, educated, and yes opinionated sports conversation. i just find it humorous yet annoying when any fan or commentator lets ignorance dominate conversation and be presumed as fact,
as always i appreciate this boards and all boards for their spirited conversation, i would just encourage all posters on all boards to be as respectful as possible

  • It would be sad to see a team that was full of integrity under Coach Tressel thrown to the dogs. Yes there were violations but letting a kid help his hungry family is not a character flaw, it i s a n NCAA flaw. What Big Ten program will they find next???? Imagine if NC, Miami, and some other schools in other divisions had been in the Big Ten...

Yes it was a serious post. There are more schools with integrity besodes PSU. So you are saying that selling someones necklace in order to help your family is ethically a poor decision? Yea the kids got tattoos also. If they had sold it to someone and not gotten the tattoos it probably would have gone unnoticed. SO if you want to look down at the head coach for breaking a rule I get it. But for trying to help young men and their families I don't. Maybe there is some light you could shed on this situation that I do not understand Hamilton...
