Hopefully My Last Rally For Resignations Update On This Board...

  • Apparently there are only a few of you on this board interested in joining the gathering on the Old Main lawn Saturday morning--it's interesting how different boards respond to different things. For those people, you need to keep in mind that Franco Harris will be speaking first, and has to get out of town immediately afterwards because of another commitment, so we will be starting the rally at 10AM SHARP! Get there plenty early if you can, and bring your friends. Thank you.

    DavidM

  • I'll be there!!! thanks for the update, This board is filled with haters, keep them coming, Franco Harris is the man!!!

  • I would be there and say a speech if I could. So hoping this draws a large crowd.

    PennSt8er

  • I'll be there. Excited to be part of Franco's Italian Army!

We are a community of level-headed and well adjusted football fans, not like those angry miserable bastards on BWI

  • I'll try to be there. I hope it draws a big crowd. Whether you care about the Freeh report or not, you have to admit that this has been a clusterf*ck since November. The media had a field day because the BoT didn't have a clue on how to handle a crisis. Now they are shoving the phrase "move on" down our throats. I believe that we cannot move on until this BoT accounts for their incompetence and resigns. The first three on the list are Erickson, Peetz, and Frazier.

Whatever real life job you have, I hope doesn't entail trying to shame your customers into buying whatever you are selling. It's a losing approach for sure.

  • I continue to hope for a huge gathering, but I judge nobody. Your views and priorities are your own concern.

WTF? Obviously you appreciate "winning" over "losing" propositions. If so, maybe you should be rooting for folks not named O'Brien or PSU football. I just don't get this harsh response to someone who is trying to gather support for a legitimate cause. Are you a BOT member? "Move on" type? or just another Debbie Downer like FireJayPa and SneakyPete? Do you even support the Nittany Lions? Do you spend money on buying Tix to the FB Games? Or are you just another dbag hiding behind an anonymous ID on a bulletin board?

    A special Cheers! to you

  • Trust me, Uncle, if I had been trying to shame readers into attending the rally, I could probably have done a much better job than that. I was simply observing that there just don't seem to be many people here interested--very different reception than most boards I've visited. As Thomas More supposedly said at his trial, " I think none harm"--unless they are current leaders at Penn State who have no desire to be honest about what has happened to Penn State. biggrin

Yes, most people would rather win than lose.

But let me get this straight, if someone supports this they support PSU in full. BUT if they don't think this is a good/smart/effective idea they don't? Yep, makes sense.

David, will you be sticking around to talk football or other Penn State athletics?

DavidM, methinks I took a downvote from Uncle dbag for ya. I'll be there in support. This is a good cause! FU UncleLar. You're with us or against us and obviously you've chosen your poison. Good luck Brah!

  • I also see this as a vote of no confidence for the future. This BoT failed miserably time and time again during this crisis. There is no doubt in my mind that they will fail during the next crisis, whatever that may be.

  • Let's put things this way. I've been a huge Penn State fan since about 1966--almost all sports, including hoops, and I enjoy talking about all of them. I was a freshman at Joe's first game as a head coach against Maryland in 1966. I haven't ponied up for premium service here, so trying to deal with all of the unreadable posts is a bit off-putting.

People that think the rally will be counterproductive or pointless? They could be right--although I guarantee this gathering will NOT be centered on football or Joepa.

For me, this whole scandal and the University's handling of it has involved two things that make me crazy: stupidity and injustice. I had no choice but to try to do something about that.

I dont know who you are, but you seem to be connected with the football program in some capacity.

What I dont understand, is if that is true, why you continue to belittle anyone that questions things like McQueary or challenging PSU and fighting what we feel is not right?

Not meant to be offensive, just a question as you seem to think (or at least that is how I interepreted your posts on here and FOS for awhile) that the media, law enforcement, PSU, etc...got it right to pin most of this mess on JVP and the PSU football program.

You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game, life or football-the margin for error is so small. -Pacino

You misinterpret me. Everyone has their opinions. But rooting against those of us who are trying to right a wrong by shedding light on the overstating of the "let's move on" mantra of the BOT makes us somehow "delusional" is dismissive at best and an insult at worst. And maybe you think I'm even delusional for thinking such. But at the end of the day, I'm interested in the truth of the matter and not the Freeh Fiction. I'm also reasistic in that the clamor against the NCAA wrongs done unto PSU is not likely to reach fruition. NCAA has thrown their weight behind this issue in self-righteous sanctimony and backing down even an inch is not in Emmert's best interests. All we can do (or I) is to support those who are slowly chipping away at the national narrative against PSU that was elevated by the yellow hack "journalist" blowhards at ESPN. At the end of the day WE ARE.....and always be....PENN STATE. The TRUTH shall free us. Even if the truth is not what I want. But I'm hedging my bets behind the minority who are endeavoring to shed light upon the flaws in the Freeh Fiction and upon the unprecedented actions of the NCAA who have no jurisdiction in the matter.

Stepping off my soapbox now. Please carry on.

I'm going. The BoT and CorBUTT are hiding something and in time it will come out.

  • How are the students receiving the rally? Do you expect a large turnout? You are doing a wonderful thing DavidM, don't let others bring you down. Thank you for all your hard work.

    MtNittMoonshine

  • I'm still waiting for an article in the Collegian to appear. A few students have already put up some small posters in common areas on campus, and will start distributing flyers today. We're very optimistic that students will support us in large numbers.

I have no connection with the football program.

And I have no idea how you have come to the conclusion that you have about what I think of the media, law enforcement, etc. treatment of Joe.

What I do have a problem with is people who make false accusations. That includes the media et al accusing Joe - and it also includes individuals who falsely attribute things to McQueary.

I also don't have a problem with those who are organizing the Rally for Resignation.

I do have a problem with someone who thinks a comment like "Apparently there are only a few of you on this board interested in joining the gathering on the Old Main lawn Saturday morning" is an effective way to generate interest in his cause. He's putting down the people on this board and that is not an effective way to win people over to his side.

My criticism is of him and his tactics, not his cause.

Like I said just previously, I have no problem with the cause. I simply have a problem with tactics that try to shame people into participating.

I also couldn't be bothered with up or down votes. They're stupid and meaningless and I have no idea why anyone would pay any attention to them. Someone else, not me, nailed you with the down vote.

    UncleLar

  • "Tactics"? The first sentence of a fairly casual post constitutes tactics? I actually tried to generate enthusiasm for the rally on this board with a number of posts encouraging participation, and got virtually no response, so I needed to be realistic about how the board collectively felt about the rally. People can see the gathering however they'd like--but the handwriting was already on the wall here. That's fine.

However, I'm not sure continuing your modest line of criticism is worthy of further reiteration.

If you're coming, great. If you're not, I have no problem with that. S'ok?

    DavidM

  • For those of you going to the rally on Saturday, just a suggestion: don't leave until the end. Trust me.
