I'm not saying that's what happened but based on the reports that have surfaced today, it shouldn't be too far fetched to think that some high profile PA officials told PSU to keep this quiet for the sake of the PA government. We will find out in due time but I just think that the most recent reports are quite interesting.

So if people are talking openly about this and reporters are digging and finding info about it, it seems to me that Freeh would have come across something related to this while doing his report on PSU. I realize Freeh was commisioned to investigate PSU, but coming from his background and considering the entire reason this investigation had to happen wouldnt it be Freeh's duty to investigate a lead into something even more scandalous? I mean lets say this is all true, imo it pretty much shreds all credibility in the Freeh report because there is nothing in there about it.

It seems to me that the Freeh Report was never intended to go anywhere near this, get my drift?
I'll take it a step further...did the NCAA act independently in their "unprecedented" punishment, or were they "encouraged" to bring the hammer down?

If he discovered this sort of evidence, he would've turned it over to the prosecutors. His report was to write about what people at PSU knew about the 1998-2001 allegations and recommend mechanisms to prevent this from happening again. This sort of thing would've been outside the scope of the report.

Pretty sure there were more than just 2 witnesses in that case.

The NCAA weren't supposed to get involved in any way. They were expected to mind their own business. When they mushroom clouded U Park for their own self-interested reasons it got enough prominent people pissed off enough to start really looking into things. The NCAA's actions will have proven to be a disaster for Corbett/Freeh and whoever they're trying to protect.
