Well, to say that a few people down here didn't really read the article very closely is an understatement. A bunch of people I guess read the pennlive article as truth and not just a topic brought up for speculation. I never said we had the cream of the crop down here. Good people, but not always the most with it as you might say.
I hope everyone is being patient up there. I have some UGA friends that are a little worried about Richt, but they are also a little worried that he is going to get an extension over this. NOTE: They are not Richt fans. I still hold on that he would be a great hire at PSU even if he should be gone at UGA. You know, the whole fresh start thing would be great for him. Of course, he just got a huge gift from the SEC scheduling folks. With the addition of aTm and Mizzou, they just released the SEC schedule and Alabama was taken off UGA's schedule and instead they were given Ole Miss in their place. That gives them another year in which they do not have to face Alabama, Arkansas, or LSU, while their challenger in the East has to play both LSU and Arkansas. In case you were wondering, UGA finished 7-1 in regular season play, losing to South Carolina and South Carolina finished 6-2, losing to Auburn and Arkansas, but finishing undefeated in the SEC East. Bit of a rough one to bring up to the Gamecock folks these days.
Anyway. I know Munchak (sp?) verablly denied interest in the job and I know a lot of people feel that he wouldn't do what Saban did with the Dolphins, but much like the situation with Saban was, the Titans are still mathematically in the playoff picture. He can't come out and say anything different at the moment. I do think that he is someone that Titan management would understand talking to Penn St about the job though, so he might not have as much to hide there.
What are the other alternatives you guys are hearing. Still nothing else??
Oh, and how do you guys deal with the Ohio people? They are worse than the idiot Bama folks and Auburn folks on the Blue Board. Are they just that stupid? I swear if they were eligible for the BCSCG next year, they should just go ahead and give them the crystal ball. Forget all the personnel problems and offensive woes that Ohio St had last year. subUrban is going to fix all of that, right? They are completely moronic and forgot what it was like when Michigan was very strong like they are close to being once again.

I am really beginning to think that it's Clements, Fitzgerald, or Grohe. Possibly Richt because of his graduation rates & clean image. I guess we'll see over the coming weeks following bowl season. Last thing that these players need is more distractions.

LOL ... didn't you hear? Kirby Smart said no to USM because he heard Nick was heading north to coach.
Anyway ... question regarding Smart. He has basically interviewed and then withdrew from searches at Ole Miss and USM. I thought USM would be a nice first HC job for him, if Richt was staying at UGA. You couple that with the fact Richt still hasn't signed his extension - maybe there might be something there. Is UGA holding up the extension to see how they do against Sparty?
Should be an interesting week for us. Every name south of Bear Bryant has been rumored to be a front runner or a candidate for this job. Looks like we have our man though.

I don't know what to think with the Richt situation. I really don't think they really want him there that bad, although they can't get rid of him. I do think that the administration is looking at the MSU game intently. They want to see something positive before they sit down and discuss an extension from what I have heard. I didn't think it was a matter of whether he had signed it yet. I think he is looking for more and some facilities guarantees down the road that UGA has not fulfilled up until now as they said they would.
I think Kirby pulled out of the Ole Miss and Southern Miss jobs for a couple of different reasons. For one, Ole Miss didn't want someone that may leave within 3-5 years if they were successful so those discussions turned south. Freeze is a type of guy that wants to stay in Mississippi so that is what happened there. As for the Southern Miss job, I think Smart saw the interest that aTm showed him and he realized that he was going to put everything in to either getting that job or wait for another job of that level. Of course the longer he sticks around, he might also have the Alabama job fall in his lap if his defenses stay at this level and his recruiting level stays the same. Smart brings in the state of Georgia big time and Alabama has a committment from the #2 player in the nation and most of the think that the #1 guy in the nation (also from Georgia) is coming with him. Those are two big reasons that Smart is going to get enough money not to take a 2nd tier job and will be able to wait for a top job or even the Bama job as most think Saban will retire within the next 3-5 years.

I guess my next question is if and when Saban leaves/retires, does Kirby Smart have the name that the Alabama job dictates? Sounds crazy because I know all about his defensive successes, but wouldn't they go out and hire someone with head coaching experience instead of promoting from within?
