Eating and puttin on weight in the wrong places has never been his problem... His problem is working hard in the gym and getting the weight to transfer to the right places and show a toughness and grit required to kill in the trenches... We will see. If he makes it- awesome. But if not, wont be surprised. Some guys have the killer instinct and finish blocks... He hasn't been that guy in 3 and a half years here...

ya, by bulked meant muscle mass, i definitely agree, in and outside of class, his personality is that of a a more laid back, really non aggressive, i assume it translates into that in the same way when in front of coaches in practice and in the weight room....I don't mind even if he doesn't start though. i think the work he does with THON and other organizations is plenty important and he is helped by saying he plays on the football team. the fact that he hasn't risen to expectations could be viewed as his fault or the coaches lack of motivation....probably a lot of downvotes my way for the last statement...but we haven't produced a first round offensive lineman since....(maybe i am too young) can't remember who

I like the star system because it gives me a "base" to start my own personal evaluations of a player. I go into watching film on say... Alex Anzalone knowing that he is a 4 star kid. I see the athleticism, and I see the versitility (LB or H-Back). But I also see the poor tackling technique against competition that I would call below average. I put that all together, and personally, I think he is a high 3 star (88 rating) type kid.
My point is, the star system isn't an absolute. Nothing is. But it is a decent baseline for judging a recruit's ability.

I played in the same conference as Anzalone (although that was 20+ years ago). I can attest that the competition is definitely below average. Most schools are AA and smaller. There has been very few D1 football players to ever come out of the conference.
