Has 2013 recruiting hit a rough patch?

With all of the negative news in the last 2 weeks. Have we stalled out in recruiting? Can momentum be regained or will things dive?

yeah i think you might be getting a little too nervous. I still think we will have a top 10 class this year. and its only June man we still have 8 months before signing day. Most recruits are of the group that knows that the Thing is behind us and we are moving forward now

You need to read the S-Zones bro.
All recruiting has a rough patch around now and then when I go on vacation, June 29th through July 8th, we will get some commits.
Lock it up.

I understand what your saying, and I can see your possible frustration when bringing up this question, but I will say the answer to this question is a resounding no.
I can see a couple of recruits maybe wanting to wait until the Sandusky mess had passed before announcing, but I think we are actually sitting in very good shape with a number of highly touted recruits, and should be getting some good news soon!

Momentum will be regained. Not every team lands a few commits each and every week, otherwise, your recruiting will be wrapped up by the summer. Chill out. The success this team has this fall will go a long in in determining the final fate of what our 2013 class looks like.

I think top 10 is a little high.
A few weeks ago I glanced at the team rankings and picked out which teams I thought we'd pass and which ones I thought would pass us. Pretty sure I figured we'd end up around #14 or so. JMO, but while top 10 is possible if we hit on a lot of our top targets, the chances are pretty low.

If we can snatch Dorian Johnson and Tyler Boyd, top ten (on average, which is all that matters) becomes very possible. Mahon will get a ratings bump here soon enough and give us another "four star" player as well.

I think it's an interesting discussion depending on who we land. IMO:
Teams that will definitely end up ahead of us:
Bama
Michigan
OSU
Texas
Georgia (they're reportedly going to have a very large class)
USC
Teams that we may be able to pass if we hit on a lot of top targets (depends on how many each program is taking):
aTm
Florida
LSU
Notre Dame (mostly because I can see them having a decommit or two, honestly)
Auburn
Oklahoma
FSU
Teams we should be able to pass:
USCe
Missouri
Virginia
Baylor
Vanderbilt
Those are the programs currently ahead of us. The only programs who might pass us (i.e. are currently behind us) are Clemson and Oregon. Don't see the latter passing us, but the former is possible.
We'd have to pass 4 of the middle category to get to top 10. Not sure I see that happening, as most of those schools seem to be fighting each other for top prospects. I think top 15 is very possible. Top 10 is fairly unlikely.
In the end, though, despite the fact that I just made a long post on it, I don't really care where we are. I like our class, and I like our staff's ability to identify talent, no matter what they're rated.
