Hackenberg 'can't wait' to sign

That was a real question.... I don't remember what people's personal opinions are on this site. Way too many to keep up with... so if it's "unbelievable" because you were being sarcastic and I didn't catch it, my apologies. But don't think so much of yourself that I would remember your every opinion off the top of my head.

He was being sarcastic. He loves Mahon, and 13 loves Hack (and strongly dislikes Burns).

See, I didn't remember that off hand.... I'm not the type of person that has to have sarcasm explained to him unless I'm missing a critical piece of information, i.e. the real story/opinion.

  • P.S. What is the current "book" on Burns? How was his senior year and his all-star game performance?

    1) Easy cowboy, was just a good natured joke;
    2) Between he and Dorian Johnson I had a "drink" in the board drinking game.

Did I have a 'drink'? How do I get one?

I like drinking, and I like this board. I want to get in on this...

  • P.S. Who remembers what number Hack said he's wearing? I though it was #7 but I forget now.

We had a few things that when they happened it triggered a "drink". New-era being his usual depressive self triggered a drink (there was another poster along these lines but I forget who), Mtayl mentioning Johnson and his beautiful kick step and a few others. We should try to bring it back.

I think sneaky trashing Paterno triggered one........and if he still posted we would have to turn into alcoholics with that one.

  • Look what McGloin did in one year with BOB. Only had a year, little time with the play book, new receivers, ect. I cannot even imagine where the ceiling is for a guy like Hack after 4-5 years with BOB. Hack's success with BOB will start the cycle of every top QB targeting PSU year in and year out. PSU will be on the national stage very soon.

  • Few things:

1: only current players can transfer thru august. signees have to go thru normal transfer rules.

2: It was between Burns and Hack. i personally fell in live with Hacks physical attributes and how he threw the ball. he literally can make every throw.

Burns is going to Stanford and will be a very good QB IMO. whichever chose PsU first got the spot. it was Hack and that was all she wrote.

i personally think redshirting Hack makes sense. Assuming the sanctions do not get lifted (i think they will), he will have 2 bowls to play in.

i cannot wait to see Hack in blue and white and love the fact that he is coming up here to play and not redshirt. i love that.

I think a red shirt would be good for him. If the sanctions are lifted do you think he plays a a true freshman?

Since I'm not qualified to evaluate film, I picked Hack because it was clear he loved Penn State from the beginning. IIRC, his dad's dream was to play QB for Joe but wasn't good enough to get an offer. The fact that he still instilled his love of the program into his son is pretty amazing. And for us to hire BOB the year Christian needed a mentor is almost divine providence.

  • Always wondered if Burns would have stuck throughout the sanctions and all. Never know but assuming it would have been too late to turn back to Hack what prospect we'd turn up for. Terry, O'Korn.

  • In the days of recruits dropping their verbal for whatever reason they feel like, it really shows the kind of character that the incoming class has and that starts with Hack and AB.

One kid might change because he decided he likes red jerseys better than orange ones.

Hack commits, the world turns upside down and he doesnt flinch.

This kid is already special, even before he ever steps on the field.

And the two kids who came out the fastest and strongest to reaffirm their commitment are forgotten because they play with their hand on the ground.

Sickels and Mahon BLEED blue and white. I agree that Hack and AB get a lot more love, but there is no doubt in my mind those guys are gonna be great team leaders later on in their careers.

  • I didnt exclude them, and mentioned the entire class first.

Mahon and Sickels are a huge a part of this very special class. But Hack was our first commit though and he's easily the face of the class. The AB signing had more traffic on this site than its ever had before or since if I remember correctly.

Every guy that committed to PSU deserves a ton of credit for having the courage to step into the situation they did though. That was my point, not that one was more important than the other.
