Hackenberg article

The obvious part of this article is that we need to offer kids now so that we can get their top-rated kids about 20 years down the road.

  • I really don't see why Penn State can't take both Burns and Hackenberg. I really bet that taking both is the plan.

Both seem to be very good, and I doubt that they would shy away from the competition especially considering that the QB position could be wide open after McGloin graduates.

After this year, McGloin graduates, who knows if Bolden stays, and there are a lot of question marks about PJ's grades. I think that they need both.

The QB spot is open right now...

I suppose. But who is really going to step up and take it away from McGloin at this point? He is the guy.

Remains to be seen. Everything is up for competition. BOB more than anyone knows how vital the QB position is. The best man will start... But right now, its a battle.

Sean has explicitly stated Burns and Hack aren't going to the same place, period.

  • The way I look at it, we have positive momentum right now. It's something we lost over the last few months, but we are getting it back.

What do we need to do with positive momentum? We need to either A) Capitalize on it and get some commitments or B) Keep the momentum going.

The next 56 days are critical. Always Be Closing and now is the time to close on a few of these guys that are big recruits and are looking to make a decision early.

If we get a WR, TE, QB, I imagine that can only help us with RB.

Gemrich - Is there any comparison between Hack and Skylar Morningwig (sp?) Both are coaches sons so I was thinking that helps each of them with certain aspects that Burns currently doesn't have.

    Play

    Alec Baldwin - Best performance

In Glengarry Glen Ross, Alec Baldwin plays the character Blake, almost earning Baldwin an Oscar for the role. The salestalk presented is one of the finest ever, allthough sarcastic, it contains the foundations of a well meditated salesmen.

I'm sure there are some comparisons to be made in regards to their knowledge of the game, but nothing that can be inferred solely from watching their film. There are basically no comparisons. Skyler is much more mobile and presents a significantly stronger running threat. Hackenberg is a MUCH better natural thrower of the football, better arm, better fundamentals. As passers Hackenberg and Mornhinweg aren't even comparable.

As for Burns, I don't understand why people are saying they're 1 and 1A. Hackenberg has 17:30 worth of college level throws on his film. Burns has like 2:30 worth of film, and the difficulty of the throws isn't close to what Hackenberg is asked to make. There's so much more to evaluate with Hackenberg, and it's all good. Anyone who's projecting Burns as a stud is doing so on reputation and not actual evaluation. Burns looks great, big kid, good arm, good athlete, but we need more high school film to put him in Hackenberg's league, IMO.

    4 options.....

    1) mcgloin steps it up
    2) bob fixes bolden
    3) jones is eligible and hopefully as good as we all hope
    4) bench comes in in early summer and pulls a bolden

I'm hoping for 2 or 3. I think Mac is what he is, and we've seen it. Of 2 and 3, I'm not sure which is more likely. If it ends up being Mac, we need to step up the running game, OL play, and at least be as good defensively as we were last year.

Hack is better and I think Allen is headed to Bama regardless of what we do.

Great, thank you. This was exactly what I was wondering about.
