HOT: Joel Myers email

  • Huge. Agree with the email 100%. Hope it does some good.

  • Sorry, but I simply can't get excited about this letter. Telling me about problems that are as clear as the nose on my face does nothing for me. What are you as a BOT Member proposing be done about these problems?

Actions speak louder than words Mr Meyers and to date the only action the board of trustees has taken has been to smear a good man's name, torpedo a football program steeped in academic success and service to society, and deflect blame from where it belongs.

Until I see real action by our BOT, I.E. a vote on accepting/declining the consent decree, I will assume that this letter is nothing more than the "move forward" agenda packaged in a more palatable format for the PSU Masses.

  • Reading about the Vioxxx case, Merck supposedly had a doctor's hitlist "We may need to seek them out and destroy them where they live," wrote an employee.

"The email, which came out in the Federal Court in Melbourne yesterday as part of a class action against the drug company, included the words "neutralise", "neutralised" or "discredit" against some of the doctors' names.

It is also alleged the company used intimidation tactics against critical researchers, including dropping hints it would stop funding to institutions and claims it interfered with academic appointments."

Sounds about right. It's the Freeh way!

  • Cue the NCAA's response in 3...2...1....

"Penn State and President Erickson signed the consent decree. That is the holy bible that therefore binds Penn State University into these sanctions because we know we didn't have jurisdiction and any other way to punish them unless we gave their weak minded President an ultimatum. An ultimatum in which he would graciously agree to."

    Cool, thanks.

So in other words, nothing new.

    Exactly. Nothing new.

There is no step in the right direction here. This step has already been taken. There is no new BOT member speaking out. Myers already spoke out in August. The is no new domino to fall. This domino already fell. There is no new emboldened spirit. This spirit has already been expressed. Just an email written to anonymous people.

I know. Everytime I get to call the BOT a POS I take. Makes me feel better if nothing else.

this can't be true. Ken Fraizer is a stand up man who carefully considers everything and puts the best interests of others first. I read it here from someone that spoke to him personally. No chance that a company ran but such a great person would do things like that.
