I was getting ready for work this morning at home and at 7:21 a.m. my phone gets a text message with today's commitment news. Great way to kick off the work day.

Right now we have 87 members signed up for text alerts, but we have a lot more that are eligible to receive them on this site so if you haven't taken advantage of signing up for alerts, I encourage you to do so. This morning is one example of how valuable they are in staying on top of the news when you are away from a computer.

If you are a monthly, I'm going to make my pitch again to upgrade. Not only do you save money, but it also helps the site out. The more subscribers, especially annual subscribers we have here, the better we can plan, budget and re-invest into the site in writers like Jeff Rice who we were able to bring on board back in the spring thanks to everyone's support of the site.

If you are an active ANNUAL subscriber to Lions247, get text alerts by the following steps:

#1. Click on the "My Account" link located at the top right in your home site horizontal navigation strip.
#2. Enter your "username" and "password" to verify your account.
#3. Click on the "Alerts" link located in the horizontal nav under "Settings"
#4. Enter your active mobile number where you would like to receive the text alerts.
#5. Check the box indicating which specific alerts you wish to receive. Example: Lions247, Penn State Football
#6. Click "Save"

If you are an active MONTHLY subscriber to Lions247, get text alerts by the following steps:

#1. First, you will need to UPGRADE your monthly subscription to an ANNUAL subscription.
#2. Click the "Upgrade" link/tab located at the top right of the site. The upgrade box is marked in green.
#3. Upgrade your account.
#4. After completing the Upgrade process, you will need to sign up for text alerts.
#5. Click on the "Alerts" link located in the horizontal nav under "Settings" (Located in the "My Accounts" section: See above)
#6. Enter your active mobile number where you would like to receive text alerts.
#7. Check the box indicating which specific alerts you wish to receive. Example: Lions247, Penn State Football
#8. Click "Save"
