Kuntz shocked me in the BW game... I know its just the spring game, but I was shocked...

shocked in a good way? What worries me are his weak knees, injury prone.

Yeah in a good way. I wrote him off before the season as someone that would be asked to not return for his 5th year. He made a couple plays with the first team... I was shocked. In a good way. He's tall and will learn to use his body. Id like to think that Hixon can coach him up there... I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised with our WRs. Everyone wanted to see what Hixon could do with Brown? Imagine what he can do with WRs with speed (not saying Kuntz is a speedy one, but a few of the younggins are, along with Kersey).

  • Won't be shedding a tear here.....

Gives a young WR more reason to stay and see the field earlier. Most notably Mr. Lewis and Mr. Kenney IMO.

Personally I don't think Mr. Brown will post big #s in Oklahoma. We'll just wait and see....

Yeah, maybe Brown will prove me wrong. But like I said, I expect to see other guys step up and make us forget all about him. Added in the increased role of the TE... I think that we will be just fine.

Disagree......Brown was our best WR. Everyone saying they don't care that he left has sour grapes.

    LOL

    No.

I was surprised as well. I hated his HS film as he just looked slow and plodding. But he looked very capable in the B/W game. Maybe he can give us something.

Here is the problem with this statement. Our offense only had 10 passing TD's last year and 29 TD passes in the last two! We have no idea how good the young guys are.

  • Definitely sour grapes On this board, but mixed with some excitement for the young guys too. They are our future.

Here is the thing about Brown, you guys can dog him all you want, he was our best receiver. If he was so average, what does that say about the guys behind on the depth chart? I didn't see those guys stepping up under Paterno. And then BOB comes in and offers a clean slate to everyone and guess who was still number one Wr? Justin Brown! not Kersey, not Robinson, not Kenney, not BMF.

Nope. Brown's advantage in experience disappears with a new offense, plus WR and RB are the 2 positions where is easiest to plug in true freshmen which shows that experience really isn't an issue as long as you've got other players..

I'd prefer to have Brown and Redd just because they are proven players and more depth is good, but it is just flat wrong to say it is a "killer" for the offense. I happen to think that there are other guys ready to step in, so those two will hardly be missed -- frankly, I would worry a lot more if McGloin had transferred than either of those 2 because experience matters a lot at QB.

So then if experience isn't an issue, why didn't any other receiver beat him out based on pure talent? Because as you said above, experience doesn't matter.

BOB has had 15 practices with these kids, right? He stuck with every returning starter. Experience clearly plays "A" role but how big a role depends on the position. It's clear that WR is the one position where experience is least necessary to be successful and that RB is #2 (unless a defense plays strictly man-then a CB's natural ability can take over).
