Potentially really big hire for OB w/ Director of Football Operations position.

Won't be long until he has his people throughout the program.

Fran's role was reduced with the football team. After O'Brien was hired, Fran helped with the transition but he was then moved out of the football offices and was mainly responsible for the Letterman Club. There will be some reorganization with Fran leaving. Kirk Diehl is the current Director of Football Operations for the football team and he was retained and signed a new contract, so O'Brien is not going to bring in another or new Director of Football Operations this year.

Ganter must have known!!!

Not to rain on Fran's parade, but I was never impressed with his coaching and play-calling skills. In my opinion, the 1994 team had one of the best offenses in history not so much because of Fran but rather despite him. The incredible talent is what made that offense work.

This will be a hard guy to replace. I have had the fortunate experience to meet and enjoy the company and conversation of Fran many times around the football building and in the Letterman's club. He was one of the few JVP guys left in a position of power in the football admin. Great person and a fun guy to be around. Very well respected by all the guys I know who played for him. He'll be missed.

Thanks a lot for your service to Penn State, Ganter. You have been there through the thick and thin. No one will bleed blue and white more than you will (ofcourse, except for my main man, who is smiling down on all of us). Best of luck in your future!
