He should have come out by now and said what his intentions are. It is getting ridiculous. This is just one of the things that I will never understand about coaches. They can leave when they want with little to no repercussion - usually to a better paying job. But if they get fired for poor performance, then they get the term of their contract. It needs to change. They want long term contracts. But are unhappy after 1 year when they aren't making what others who have been coaching for years make. F*ck it. I will keep my season tix either way. Just sick of all this. I had enough of it last year after the season ended. I will forever miss the loyalty of the previous staff and realize the world is completely different now.

It is going to be a great month if he leaves...looking for a coach while Oregon is as well...losing recruits, and losing players to free agency again. Can't f-ing wait.

Son, you need to come visit me in Margaritaville.

In mulling this all over I thought for awhile that BOB would only leave for NE if Bellycheck retired. Yet someone threw out another name somewhere in here which crossed my mind and would scare the bJesus out of me. His initials are JJ and he could pay the buyout without breaking a sweat. IF BOB and Joyner lock horns as is also being reported this thing could play out badly.

You can down vote all you want, it doesnt matter cuz I'm not asking for much. Just be a grown up and claim responsibility for your information. If you're wrong it's much more respectable to to own it than set yourself up to back pedal.

You act like I'm blasting the guy, just stating that those statements are more speculative than opinion or even fact. He doesn't even need to name the sources, just how he came across the info.

I've read many posts by miller and you shavi, never ever had an issue. No need to personalize and turn this into an argument. I respect your opinion on the matter and agree to an extent, I just have my own opinion on the matter as well.

I tend to agree with you. I dont need names, just a general statement to tell me what kind of credibility it holds:

I know players on the team
    I know a few coaches
I know people in NFL circles
    I know an agent
I know a janitor that mops Old Main

I don't need names, but a location would help establish some cred...

  • Why not give him what he wants? Your not in a position to negotiate. If he walks your program is in serious trouble.

No, they don't cave when one of their own comes calling just the NCAA.

So would you take Joe Paterno from 1997-2011 over BOB? Past success is not indicative of future results, particularly when it is from a long time ago. BOB understands modern offensive football better than most anyone.

You also have the benefit of seeing a larger sample size from Reid. You got to see his peaks and plateaus. I doubt you were saying he was a terrible coach when he went 5 straight seasons winning 11+ games a year. Whoever the Eagles hire as their next HC there is about a 5% chance he'll be more successful than Reid and a 95% chance they'll be worse than Reid. Maybe BOB does know more about offense but I think Reid is the better coach.

And yes I would take a wildly successful coach like Paterno or Reid coming off some down years because they are still successful and proved it and like Joe was successful again. If Nick Saban goes 7-5 next year then 6-6 I'll still take him because he is a great coach and has proved it. BOB has been coach for one year and has done a remarkable job but Mike Shula went 10-2 at Bama. I just want to see more of BOB before I anoint him as better that one of the 10 Best football coaches of the last decade in Reid.

I really can't believe people getting worked up over this guy saying he has sources allover the place saying this.

I think I will trust the professionals on TV, not some guy hiding behind a screen name and some unidentified sources.

Or are we all to believe this internet wonder knows more than people like Adam Schefter and Mort?

How about Peter King and Jason La Canfora? It's not as if the NFL guys are mum on this.

Not saying BOB would for sure have more success than Reid in his prime. I'm saying going forward BOB would be my preference for a coach in 2013 and beyond.

    "Joe was successful again"

Not compared to how successful he used to be. Having two championship calibur teams in a 15 year period (against a very weak Big Ten) is not the type of success Joe and PSU were used to.

The worst SB winning coach is better than the best to have never won it. Reid had his QB and his shots, he is not going to win a championship at KC or AZ.

I hope you don't mean the magaritaville in Pittsburgh. If you mean like Cabo, then I am coming.

I doubt JJ would go after another unproven NFL HC. He would want Cowher or something along those lines.

  • Unless Mort of Schefter confirm he's going on an interview there is no reason to thinks he's leaving. Every other coach rumored including Chip Kelly has had interviews setup and reported.

With the sanctions and Freeh agency, I don't know who would step into this mess right now. Penn State would really have to step up and pay someone big money. Maybe Al Golden if he is wary of Miami's own NCAA issues?
