    'We did not go onto their campus. We only talked to individuals that would be willing to talk to us. They had the opportunity to come to us, to speak to us. That's how we handled the situation."

    Penn State will have to deal with the recruiting issue dealing with the bowl ban, Meyer says. It's something he has had to deal with at OSU.

    Well since he used "we," then it's true. He's not at PSU's campus. If he said "they" (his assistants), that would be a different story.

    What a complete joke this guy is. Stay classy Beckman and Illinois. Camp out at the Nittany Apartments by Lasch and then lie about it. Say you are not actively recruiting our players but then say we set up establishment off campus and called people.

    On O'Brien...

    "I don't know Coach O'Brien personally, we were not able to meet him at the Big Ten meetings in February. I have the utmost respect for him, I think he's doing an outstanding job at Penn State. He was a fabulous coach in the NFL and he's been around quality leaders. I expect good things at Penn State."

    On talking to Penn State players, said there's nothing to apologize about...

    "We're just following the rules that the NCAA set… We provided Penn State with the names prior to even going there… We gave them a list so that they were aware before we go there of who those players would be."

  • i hope obrien is sitting there with a tape recording getting all these gem's of quotes.. then take them back to psu and show how much of hypocrites these guys are when the players get contacted by these schools.. would you rather play for an upstanding guy like bob or some scum coach from another school who would cut you in a heartbeat to "make his squad better"..

  • Here is B'OB's take on this nonsense. This is a quote from an ESPN article about the Silas Redd meeting with USC.

    "These kids don't want to leave Penn State," O'Brien said. "They want to play for Penn State. It is my opinion these coaches should leave them alone, but if they don't want to leave them alone, they should make sure they give me a call before they try to recruit them."
