What is it with our "big name" kids from NE (Redd, Fortt, Cam, Armani) and not having any resolve? I'm sure it's just a coincidence (right?), but man.

They are ESPN disciples, under the ESPN Emperor's mind-influence. The closer an athlete gets to Bristol, the stronger the influence on the weak minded. It's like living in the Death Star.

    Well... fancy man!

It was unbelievable. I still can't believe a) I was at the Ritz for anything, and b) I was there with the CEO and squad of Chelsea football club. The Champions League and FA trophies were there too. I'll post a few pics at some point. It was quite the evening.

  • If all goes the way of the rumors, it looks like the true junior class is not doing too well. Bolden, Redd, Fortt, Haplea. Just saying its a weird coincidence.

I am a sports fan. Soccer season lasts 10 months, PSU football 3. Believe it or not, I do probably follow Chelsea closer than PSU. Attended a 1-hr private session w the CEO and several of the players at the Ritz last week while they were in Philly.

Walked by a few people standing outside the Ritz in Union and Chelsea gear last week on my way to lunch. Wonder if I saw you...

Definitely have high attrition with guys from there -- adding in Ambrose Fletcher, Horace Dodd, Maurice Humphrey to the discussion.

  • It's possible. It was Tuesday afternoon and evening. We were at Tir Na Nog in between.

Haha... I went in the Ritz one night, drunk, expecting to get a room for a good rate (because I was young and dumb, and the place was empty). It was like 700.00 for a standard room. Yeah.....

Mistake: I showed a few of the pics to my wife. Response: "So when are we spending a weekend there?" Ugh.

It is nice to walk into/leave a building and have like 6 dudes hold doors for you. We've been fortunate enough to go to some nice places since we've been married, but I need a few more years under my belt before we step up to Ritz territory.

    2) what does soccer have to do with sports?

  • I guess I shouldnt be surprised how absurd some people sound. really, a few guys from the New England area are not keen playing at a school which was guilty for what might be the worst scandal in North American sports history? so we blame ESPN for it? REALLY?

Same could be said for the Red Sox Child Molestation case. Also, all those Point Shaving incidents at BC were pretty cool.

That Ritz (assuming it's the one downtown across from City Hall) is great. Love the features they left from the old bank. Have stayed there a couple of times, first was before the PSU-Nebraska game in '02. Flew into Philly with my then-wife and our friends who are big Neb fans. Girls stayed in Philly for the weekend while he and I drove out to State College for the game. Not sure if they still do it, but on Friday nights they had a "Chocolate Decadence" event in the lobby with a string quartet. They set it up around that raised dias in the middle. Literally hundreds of choices of chocolate - candies, cakes, cookies, pies, tortes, pastries, ice cream - anything you could think of . Freaking amazing.

The Ritz on M street in DC does a smaller version for Valentine's Day. Trust me boys, if you're ever looking for something a little over the top to really lock things down with a girl, that'll do it. The buffet with a flight of champagne will set you back a bit, but it's well worth it...

(Intentionally ignoring the point of this post - so long, farewell, etc).

The service at Ritz' in general is amazing. I played golf at the Ritz Carlton at Dove Mountain (site of WGC Match Play Championship) the week it opened and ended up talking to one of the assistant pro's who had graduated from Penn State. A few days later, I received a thank you letter and a Penn State headcover. The weirdest thing was they knew my name when I pulled up before I even introduced myself.

Yes, the Ritz across the street from City Hall. It's a beautiful venue. We were fortunate enough to hang at the main bar with a few of the players after the meeting. They were extremely cordial and gracious. We were in the underground conference room for the majority of the evening. I didn't get to explore much else, but it's a spectacular facility.

    He's going going to Cali-Cali.

Beautiful area with smoking hot ladies out there. Can't say I blame him. He'll get playing time as the MLB and not have to deal with 1000 questions every week about the Freeh Report
