  • Powell needs to watch a couple of these videos. Sure his kick return average is very good, but I miss the speed that DWill used.

Very much so. True love for Penn State from that family

  • I disagree, I dont think he is unappreciated at all.. I think he means more to the PSU program and PSU nation than any player has meant to any other program in recent memory.. Statistically, he didnt have a record breaking career at PSU and he hasnt amounted to much in the NFL, but he was the rallying point the brought our program from the depths.. He will be remembered forever..

  • I think there's probably a divide in Nittany Nation.

Some see him as a career underachiever, because of the unreasonable expectations people had for him.

Others look more at what he did for the program, rather than the numbers.

He'll always be one of my favorite Lions.

  • First Psu game ever.

    Stephfon Green ACCELERATES!

Penn State running back Stephfon Green takes a well-sold screen pass from Pat Devlin and almost accelerates out of the picture on his way to an 80 yard touch...

  • I was wasted at this game, I had way to many loaded Coronas and shots of Tuaca that day.

  • Well, Powell does wear #2. And LJ had that big return in the 4th quarter in the 2001 to put us up on Illinois after Zack got knocked out. Maybe we're due for another.

    PSU Mike

  • Everybody always talks about what he did for the program, and that's great and true. However, he was definitely extremely important on the field as well, and I don't get how so many people fail to see that.

He was a crucial member of two big10 champ teams.
He was 1st-team all-big ten his senior year (big 10 champs)...had 10 total touchdowns.
His freshman year he missed half the season but still had a huge role (big 10 champs)...he played a very crucial part in 3 victories...if any of those are losses it's a diff. season
His jr. and soph. years he didn't too much, but the other 2 season override that for me. Even in the 2 off years though, his jr. year for one, huge play in the ND victory and I hate ND with a passion. They were down 7-0 and then he had an insane punt return TD to tie it up before they went on to kill ND...he set the tone. He also had a big game against Purdue (I know it's just Purdue, but they lost without him).

Not more than what Tebow meant to Florida or what Kellen Moore means to Boise.

  • It's hard to under appreciate his impact on the program as a whole. From a purely on the field perspective he was overrated by many (vastly so by some) when he was playing. But that doesn't seem to be the case anymore, which I assume is because of his NFL career (or lack thereof). That's not fair in a way, but it did bring his actual football talent into perspective for some people.

  • I like to think Dwill gave us hope. He was one of the main reason the sleeping lion woke up.

We had some really goodplayers over his time, Mrob, Poz, Connor, Butler, Norwood, Royster. I think his freshman year was pretty impressive until he got hurt, he was meeting my expectations.

It would be great if he ended up doing something for PSU ... I think it was NittanyLyon that said he should be a fundraiser type of person and I agree with that.

If winning was easy even losers would do it.

Agreed. Sadly though, about 95% of people look at his production on the field and say he didn't live up to the hype and dismiss the little things that he did that made him a Godsend to this program.

That would be pretty sweet, Lang.
