I'd be psyched for Golden, Gruden, or Urban.
Would be ok with Schiano.
Would be displeased with Caldwell.

Do we really think these are possibilities?
Are those types of coaches willing to come here given the current situation?
In all honesty, we could turn into what Bama was pre-Saban.
If winning was easy even losers would do it.

What's wrong with Jim Caldwell? I think recruits would gravitate to a guy with NFL coaching experience.

Can the Schiano detractors explain why you don’t want him and what makes Golden such a better candidate than him?

The only guy on the list I wouldn't want is Urban.
I'm not sure why people would be upset with Caldwell. Sure, he's not a sexy hire, but if you factor in a super bowl ring, plenty of experience coaching at PSU and knowing the university, and MOST IMPORTANTLY a great record of integrity, I would think he seems like a great hire. Anyone as close to Dungy as he was you know is a good man.
He would maintain a clean program, keep grad rates super high, etc. Golden is the only other guy that you KNOW would do the same. In my opinion...

The reasons I wouldn't want Caldwell are two fold: 1) from what I've seen he has zero personality, 2) I've seen zero evidence of good coaching from him. Peyton Manning runs that team, period. Now I don't think the talent Caldwell has to work with (outside of a few stars on both sides of the ball) is overall that great. However, he has enough star guys to show something. Look at Gailey and the Bills - he's getting a ton out of a team with really zero guys like Freeney, Clark, Wayne, Mathis, and the Colts FS (can't remember his name right now).

Anf he's a terrible head football COACH.

I should also add that I'm not a huge fan of Gruden, either. He's got a personality and NFL experience that kids would gravitate to, but I'm really not sure the results on the field would be great. I've heard bad things about him working with young QB's in the NFL (perfectionist, bad temper, nothing pleases him, etc.)...I just don't see him working well with college kids. JMO.
