Fitzgerald is a POS

Been saying it all night.... Dude is a class A POS. True colors came flying out.... the late TD would have been better going for 2. Kiffin, Fitzgerald, and Beckman.... 3 a holes in a pod... Those faces he was making at the crowd.... Hope a player goes flying into him on the sidelines.

Phila, I like your enthusiasm, but don't you think you are getting carried away? I could be wrong since I was not at the game. What I saw on TV was completely the opposite.

Fitz was getting into the game, and his getting his team fired up. The Beav is an extremely hostile environment, and his team embraced that.

I'll admit I was upset by it at the time, but the more I think about it the less it bothers me.

Hilarious coming from the guy who just called another coach, one who has an outstanding reputation among PSU fans, a POS.

  • Couple things.. I was on the NW side of the stadium..

    1. I never saw Fitz encourage his coaches to mock the fans. I am not even sure how one would do this. He was usually pacing up and down, looking at his chart or talking to someone. There were times he got excited and raced up and down the sidelines but I just am not sure what people are taking about.

    2. I am not sure if you would call it mocking but there were many times the NW players and some staff where waiving their arms for the crowd to get louder during those time the crowd was getting into. I never have really liked this and I hope I never see out players do it on the road but geez that is getting pretty ticky tack about what is considered mocking.

    3. Fitz not being called for penalty when he was practically far enough on the field to be in the NW backfield was obscene. We ended up scoring on the drive but still it was pretty bad how far out there he was.

    4. I am not sure if BOB and Fitz ever yelled at each other when BOB came out on the field chewing on the ref about the PI call but I do know FITZ did not like it and at a minimum complained to another ref.

    5. Fitz has always been classy as a player and coach, it is going to have to take a hell of a lot more than what might have happened for me to hate on NW especially when we have and have had some of the slimiest coaches in CFB here in the Big Ten.

+1,000,000... Texas is the worst PSU fan on this board. He rips on other poster and then goes and kisses the sPitt board posters asses. No true PSU fan would do that. Pitt is the ENEMY and any real PSU fan would know that!

I have hated Pitt for many years, however it seems the younger generation on this board does not embody the venom since the rivalry has passed. I would love to rekindle the rivalry and beat the crap out of Pitt annually. That would send Mark May over the edge.

  • When coach Bob was on the field to check on Willis, he gave the refs hell over the bogus interference call.
Fitz came on the field too and wanted the refs to flag Bob because he was on the field. Bob saw it and yelled
something at Fitz. No big deal. Just in the heat of competition. Give Fitz credit for his congrats to psu after the game.

    babycakes

  • If you rewatch the game the camera is on Fitz almost the entire time that Morris is down. You can see the point he sees OB on the field and starts running on the field as well yelling at a ref "flag his ass, flag his ass" then something to the affect of "he can't come over here like that." Then as he's going back to his sideline he winks at one of his guys, and his team fed on it.

I really don't have a problem with any of what I saw. OB was giving the refs hell and so was Fitz. Both competitors in the middle of the game.

I didn't see anything on TV about them mocking fans. That would be over the top for me.

I have no problem with Pitt people because they haven't given me a reason to dislike them. When they start doing that, then I'll be rough and tough like you, and really let them know I'm not a poster to be messed with.

This isnt a big enough reason?

Edit: owtahear is supposedly a Pitt letterman. If that is not enough to see what that fan base is like, then your naive.

That particular post is disturbing and disgusting, but every fanbase has those crazies who take things way too far. I also don't communicate with owt much on their board.

I don't go over there that often, and when I do its usually to congratulate them. I don't mind Pitt, and I think its better for PSU when there is a competitive natural rival. I don't hate Pitt until they give me a reason to. One disgusting post by some message board crazy isn't a reason to hate a school.

Try living in Western PA. Just trust us when we say they are the most classless, jerkoffs in all of sports.

But go ahead and be buddy-buddy with them as the nutjobs on that board are even worse than the general Pitt fan that I run into, who are still terrible.

  • We have enough people hating us around the country. We should stop hating on our own guys. We have no chance if we fight among ourselves. I am sure posters from other boards come here and find our infighting over trivial issues hilarious.

Actually no, carpetbagger while traditionally used as term against northerners who moved south during reconstruction may also be used as someone who moves into an area and lives there for a short amount of time and acts like its always been their home, often running for political office.

I act like PA has always been my home? I strongly disagree.

I'm very proud of where I'm from, and its not something I try to hide.

EDIT: Also, I didn't realize being from Texas negates me being a Penn Stater or a PSU fan.

  • Sit on west side and can corroborate what philly said.......suprised and little diasppointed in what i saw out of NW but realize the day and age we are in where there is little class left anywhere in college football.........PSU is no different and has had their own player antics!

I did notice the NW players being cocky after they took that nice lead, they were on the benches mocking the fans...

FWIW, I noticed that the players (and coaches?) were holding the Northwestern flag up at one point late in the 3rd quarter. That was the 1st time I've seen anything like that. It did seem like a taunt to me.

  • I was in the West stands Row 25 WF; and saw the player with outstretched arms facing the stands egging the fans on to get louder. And boy did we ever! Turning point of the game is when BOB woke up the entire stadium when he walked out onto the field and gave the officials holy hell over the PI call (worst call by a B1G official in a PSU game all year).

After that the entire crowd was behind PSU the rest of the game. I've been a season Ticket holder for 20 years. Since the last expansion we've had some memorable games, Notre Dame, OSU-2003, Nebraska-2005, where we had 110,000 in attendance making lots of noise. But I've never been in Beaver Stadium with a noisier crowd than what we had on Saturday. And that crowd was 14,000 less than the aforementioned sellouts!

In fact the usually listless West Stands, in my section, were as rowdy as could be. For a section that sits thru most of the game, we were on our feet for almost the entire 4th QTR.
That was a really exciting game/environment to witness. One of the best in my 20 years.

I was disappointed to rewatch the telivised game, when BOB was raking the officials over the bad call, the camera was on Fitz the entire time, with commentators bloviating over Fitz, chance to go 6-0 for first time in 50 years, blah, blah, blah. The cameras missed the turning point of that game. BOB got the fans to personally put some skin in the game, and NWU never stood a chance after that.

I was also disappointed to see McMoxie do the "Discount double-check" meneuver in the end zone after he scored the decisive TD. He's too cocky for his own good sometimes. That stunt could have cost us 15 if the officials see it.

Otherwise a great win for this team. A milstone victory over a ranked opponnent. And a perfect segue into the bye week.

They held the flag up the entire game to block their signs. A lot of teams do this.
