lol what exactly were the coaches doing to mock and taunt the fans?

Every time our fans got loud while we were on D, they started turned around and started yelling and making gestures at our fans behind the bench (was a few rows up so i didnt get to hear what was said). However, I think what they were doing is pretty irrelevant. The point that we're arguing was classless (despite Fitz yelling at BoB, which did happen) is that their coaches were encouraging their players to pay attention to the fans instead of the actual game. You just don't see that in respectable football programs.

I was hoping someone would just knock the spit out of Venric Mark. He had a bad napoleonic complex. and he was talking alot of crap. I wouldnt talk so big to Hodges if I was like 5'8" 190 maybe

If there was a shouting match, I say it's nothing more than 2 passionate competitors in the heat of battle.
I do know that Pat Fitz hugged several players post game and had a good conversation afterwards with Bill. So it would be nothing like the situation with Beckman at Illinois.

Guys, who cares? We won, they lost. Let them go back to Northwestern bitter and with their tails between their legs and let's worry about Iowa.

Not like any of the PSU fans weren't yelling at our own players (or at least the TV) during the game!! Boys stepped up and we won...non-story!! Let's move on!!

1. The NW players were excited and amped up when they took the lead. Who cares if they TRIED to mock our fans. This happens all the time. What do you want them to do...sit on the bench and stare forward because they are on the road. This is blown out of proportion.
2. Fitzgerald is a classy guy. You werent on the field and have no clue what was being said. Again, these coaches are competitors. If O'Brien was trying to get an advantage with the refs you better believe Fitz is going to jump in that....again..something you see every week.

Well in the end they lost, so it's over next stop Iowa.

I will say this...

I wasn't at the game, but it did look like Fitzgerald and the NW bench was getting unusually riled up in the second quarter. At that moment, I realized that Pat Fitzgerald has embraced the underdog role too much. His actions indicate a lack of confidence in his and his team's abilities. A coach who is truly focused on winning wouldn't have time to joke around during games like that.

It was very off-putting to watch, and as others have said, I lost some respect for the man during the game.

I think fitz got pissed when Morris went down a play or two after the fake PI. After watching again last night he seems to think Morris went down on purpose to slow their hurry-up

I really don't see the big deal in all this......you all realize you were at a FOOTBALL GAME, right? A place where emotions run high and the testosterone flows......sometimes people do things and say things in the heat of battle. The big question to me is what were those coaches and players doing when the clock read 00:00 at the end of the game?

I have no problem with Pitt people because they haven't given me a reason to dislike them. When they start doing that, then I'll be rough and tough like you, and really let them know I'm not a poster to be messed with.
