Everybody Who Gives A Rip About BOT Reform: Please Read!!!

  • Anthony Lubrano just posted this on a couple of Facebook pages:

Alright folks. Time to get ready for the upcoming Senate hearing on Governance in Harrisburg on March 18th. I need all of you to begin inundating the members of the Senate Committee on State Government. Here's the link:

    http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/cteeInfo/index.cfm?Code=41&CteeBody=S

We'll have two 50 passenger buses for the early morning trip. One will depart from Exton, PA and the other from State College. WE need to fill the hearing room with Penn Staters. The media will be in attendance and take notice.

I followed up by posting that if we can't get a few hundred people to this PA Senate hearing, why should anybody else think we care about genuine reform of the BOT. My wife and I are going, and I know a few other trustee candidates are as well. How about some of you? I'm not begging quite yet, but I'll probably get there before the 18th.

  • Thanks for this info and your efforts. Have to work on the 18th, as most responsible people do, but I'll give my Congressmen Kaufmann and Senator Alloway a shout via e-mail. thumbsup

  • That's excellent! Seriously, whatever anybody can do, either contacting legislators or showing up in Harrisburg, is greatly appreciated. I'm still a responsible person, but I'm able to get into movies with a discount for agedness, so I've got some options.

    Everyone--please do what you can.

  • I'm sure PS4RS is aware of this but they should be able to muster up some support.

  • Anyone interested in either bus trip needs to get on the stick fairly quickly. The basic info is here, and if you don't do Facebook or need more info, just post on this thread and I'll see what I can find out.

  • Hey DavidM...

Any more word on that mother of all lawsuits? Again don't need details just curious if anything is in the works?

  • I've resisted asking, but I know it's coming. This week? Next week? Folks with higher pay grades than I are making the decisions.

  • Okay, now I'm BEGGING! As I've mentioned before, there's going to be an important PA Senate hearing about a bill designed to make significant and positive changes to the Board of Trustees and how it functions. It will take place on Monday, March 18th in Harrisburg, apparently beginning at 10:30 AM. Anthony Lubrano has asked all Penn Staters who are able to attend to do so. A few good people have organized bus trips that morning beginning in State College and Exton to take people to the hearing. If any of you have an opportunity to make it, please sign up soon. The info is here: http://www.facebook.com/events/123846317794993/
and if you need more specific info, let me know.

Alternatively, if you're interested in coming to the hearing, and don't want to go the bus route, that would be terrific as well. We desperately need a few hundred committed Penn Staters to show up and prove that we care enough to take a little time from our days to stand up for good governance at the University we supposedly care about.

If you can spare ONE DAY out of this entire year to do something positive for Penn State, March 18th would probably be a good choice. Please help us help PSU. PLEASE.
