Tough break. Really difficult to push through that type of illness. Glad he is sticking around to help the team and earn that degree.

Bummer. He was a nice prospect coming out of HS. Its pretty cool that he's staying as a grad assistant.

I would imagine that they've seen this coming for a while now.
I feel absolutely terrible for him and can't imagine what it must be like to have your football career end in this manner, but this isn't much of a surprise. Most people around him knew it was just a matter of time before it was made official.

Evan always seemed to love the program. Very tough break for the kid. Hopefully he gets healthy and moves on to bigger and better things.

I'm curious for confirmation on the grad assistant part. I'm assuming there is some confusion there.

Glad the young man came to Penn State to get his degree. I'm sure he made some memories with football that he'll remember forever.

I can remember watching some videos from his commitment. He really seemed to buy into what Penn State is all about.

I didnt follow recruiting when he got him, but looking at his offers, he had some big boys coming after him (LSU, Michigan, Tennessee, Clemson, etc) and see that he played in the Under Armour game. Must've been pretty good coming out of high school. Where was he sitting on our depth chart?

Sad to see him not be able to continue to play as I am sure he had dreams of the NFL and its just tough to not be able to play the sport you grew up and loved.

Most likely he is dealing with a genetic predisposition at this point. Factor V can lead to chronic clotting over ones lifespan and usually means blood thinners for life unfortunately. I now consider myself lucky since mine was not the cause of a known genetic predisposition. I hope for nothing but the best going forward for Evan. This was the last thing I wanted to here after finding out about his medical issue.

Had heard this in last week but wanted Jeff to check it out with O'Brien on the caravan. Tough news but obviously his health is priority No. 1 here.

Man. This one stinks to lose. I can't imagine how Evan feels knowing he never even got to get his career started at PSU. Best of luck to him getting his degree. I hope he sticks with it at PSU.
