I'm not sure if they meet the true definition of a dirge song but I have "Tears in Heaven" by Clapton, "Wish You Were Here" by Floyd, "Where did you sleep last night" Nirvana's version and of course "Tha' Crossroads" by Bone Thugs N' Harmony biggrin

I'm sure at least "tears in Heaven" comes close to the definition. biggrin

Now that country sucks. Upstairs Downtown is as bad as it gets.

Red Solo Cup of course is the Toby Keith song?

I can handle certain country. I like Willie Nelson (when he's paying his taxes), David Allen Coe, Johnny Cash. Hank Williams Jr is ok too I guess.

    Love all of those.

Your music tastes seem to be stuck pre-1995. Great choice.

  • Wow I love the turn this thread took.

For some reason my musical tastes line up with Pete's except I'd rather listen to the who over Sabath.

Also Hank I and III are great while Jr is average at best.

Never thought I liked country but discovered Cash and Willie in college. Led me to Ray Wylie Hubbard, Steve Earle, David Alan Coe, Waylon Jennings, James McMurtry, Merle Haggard, The Drive by Truckers, Old Crow Medicine Show to name a few

  • I can totally see why this thread says - who likes lousy music..... oh no wait....

Re: Breneman --> when Joe Pa died he posted multiple times statements like "We STILL Are!!!"

If he doesn't end up at PSU, I'll be exceedingly disappointed....

Ya, I'm getting old and find that I'm like Randy Marsh on South Park, can't understand how kids listen to new music these days. It's horrible. I mean, guys in skinny jeans??? gun

Not a HUGE Sabbath fan, everything else is killer. Well done.

Agree, would add Queen, Dire Straits (pre-Money for Nothing) and Rush over Sabbath from the 70's-80's.

Mark Knopfler is the man. I saw him in concert a few yaers ago. Awesome. I like Queen but they aren't anything special IMO.
As a drummer I am a big Neil Peart fan but overall not a huge Rush fan, Howard Stern, I mean Geddy Lee's voice drives me up a wall. I'd take Sabbath over Rush all day. Also, I'm an Ozzy Sabbath fan, once they kicked him out the band went down hill. The DIO years were just bad.

Nirvana's Where Did You Sleep Last Night is great. Pure, unmitigated angst in Cobain's voice. This thread has gotten really off topic.

I've been on a David Allen Coe and Waylon Jennings tear the past few days, its been great.

  • The only country that I listen to is Cash and some Willie Nelson. Everything else is just too twangy... Just can't do the twang. I tried to listen to Hank Williams, but then I found out he was a racist and just couldn't do it. But I listen to everything. Hip hop, reggae, R&B, funk, blues, rock... Current rock... Black Keys are my $hit, as is anything with Jack White in it... Sabbath (shout out to sneaky), The Doors, The Meters, Stones, Gorillaz, Guns & Roses, Sublime, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, Outkast, Tribe Called Quest, The Roots (I seriously implore anyone that has not seen a Roots concert to go immediately) and countless others... Not to mention I saw Rage Against the Machine when they got back together briefly. Tom Morello is a monster. But seriously guys, expand your tastes lol this thread is all country and classic rock... Gimmie some Frankie Beverly and Maze, some Marvin Gaye, some Curtis Mayfield, some Otis Redding, some Donny Hathaway, some Stevie Wonder, some Teddy P, some O'Jays...

You haven't heard? If you disagree with Obama then you are a racist and only disagree cause he is black. It has nothing to do with his policies killing this country.

No. The Roots are an entirely different band. They are pretty good. I have a couple of their older CD's but haven't listened to them for awhile.

Dave whines like a 12 year old school girl. The best part of DMB is the drummer (Carter Beauford), He is awesome.

Most played on my ipod would be

    The Stones
    Zepplin
    Black Sabbath
Metallica (pre 1990 everything after In Justice for all blows)

Not a stones fan personally and don't really know why I never liked them though I like Beast of Burden and some others.

DmB ya know I'm with ya there.

Most listened to for me. Pearl Jam, Zepplin, , any 70's rock really as that would be a long list. Early 90's-ish rules.
