    Lyrically DMB sucks.

His guitar rifts are incredible, be his lyrics outside of Shotgun are horrible. They're incoherent and don't make much sense, at least the DMB I've heard so far.

Dave is definitely most of the way out of his mind when he writes, but I'll take a creative metaphor over a line a 12 year old could write any day. Hence my lack of interest in most country and most OAR.

Haha, who do you like that I listed?

I listen to basically everything outside of rap and hard rock, but the only genre I know really well is country.

    No offense to country, but.....

  • Dueling Banjos - "Deliverance". State College is an Oasis in the middle of Appalachia in a state defined as "Pittsburgh on one side and Philadelphia on the other with 'Alabama' in the middle".

I forget the artists who just performed at the BJC, but they were country and welcomed by the crowd. We've had Garth Brooks, who played 4-straight nights at the BJC to satisfy the demand. We've had Reba McIntyre received well too. There's lots of local demand for Country, Hickabilly, WWF and Monster Truck Races to name a few.

Me, I tune into 26 on the XM-Sirius network to get my fix on classic R&R.

Back to the topic, I like this kid and he's got lot's of reasons to "Come to Penn State!"

He isn't a good writer, but makes up for it with his guitar playing ability and his shows.

It sounds like you don't listen to very much country if you believe that.

Old OAR is ok, new stuff is bubble gum crap IMO. Any DMB destroys any OAR - musically, lyrically, in every way imaginable. My apologies for participating in the hijacking of this thread. Sports is just about the only thing that gets me going more than music.

    Both bands blow.

  • Country music is as varied and diverse as what's played on most top 40 stations. Some great stuff. Lots of crap. But you can understand what they're saying and the girls are hotter.

I hope Kyle Brady talks him through this whole process!!

He's been working out in Kyle's weight room at Cedar Cliff. I wonder if there's been any contact with him. Not sure if Kyle still drops in at CC. I think his parents still live in New Cumberland... shrug

King, All Sides, and a good portion of Stories of a Stranger were awful. But their old stuff from Risen and other CD's never gets old. Their only good song recently Rhythm of Your Shoes never even made an album (minus live). Most of the stuff I like from OAR is the sax. One of my favorite instruments to listen to.

    http://espn.go.com/blog/high-school/football/post/_/id/4995/get-familiar-five-star-te-adam-breneman

ESPN article, so don't click if you are boycotting the 4 letter company. Basically just says Adam is the 1st ESPN 5 star tight end in 3 years and has a quick interview with him. Breneman mentions no schools specifically. Breneman: When I look at a school, there’s three aspects. I look at the school academically, I look at the football team and the offense I’d be playing in, and then I look at the school spiritually to see if these are the right guys for me. I’ve started to make some opinions in my mind, but I’m nowhere close to making a decision.

Says his favorite athlete is Gronk along with Brent Celek

Good post, thanks for the recap for ESPiN boycotter's.

I am floored. I expected you to chime in on this thread like a big fat ray of sunshine. Just completely floored. If you can't even appreciate Dave musically, I'd love to know what's most played on your ipod. Surely something that doesn't blow.

Didn't read the article but reading his quotes you posted I feel very comfortable about where PSU stands with him. With BO'B as the HC, and how he uses TE's, I would be very surprised/disappointed if we didn't land this guy.

Dave whines like a 12 year old school girl. The best part of DMB is the drummer (Carter Beauford), He is awesome.

Most played on my ipod would be

    The Stones
    Zepplin
    Black Sabbath
Metallica (pre 1990 everything after In Justice for all blows)

If you like Sabbath at all they are so much better then the few songs played on the radio. They have some nice bluesy stuff that just rocks. A cheap way to check more of them out is to buy the 3 disck set, Black Sabbath the Ozzy Osbourne years. It's great and covers all their styles. Or, I could burn it for you. If your not a Sabbath fan, I suggest following what I said before this sentance biggrin

    .

I can handle certain country. I like Willie Nelson (when he's paying his taxes), David Allen Coe, Johnny Cash. Hank Williams Jr is ok too I guess.

I'm not sure if they meet the true definition of a dirge song but I have "Tears in Heaven" by Clapton, "Wish You Were Here" by Floyd, "Where did you sleep last night" Nirvana's version and of course "Tha' Crossroads" by Bone Thugs N' Harmony biggrin
