I think this really comes down to the best players available regardless of position. I think the staff has an idea where they stand w/all the remaining targets, I think they definitely want to land 2 quality prospects with the final scholarships. If they add a few offers to high quality prospects(especially those with shaky coaching situations) I think they are bettering the odds so to speak.

Give me any 2 of the following- Boyd, Williams, Johnson, Dooley. If we land 1 of the 4 bank the other ship or use it on a specific position of need DT or DB. If we strike out on all it may be better served to bank both.

I don't think hull is big enough for that position but Barnes would def be a freak standing up and moving him around.

Correct, they will not be going to a base 3-4 next year, or likely any time soon. The roster isn't designed for it, nor are did they attempt to sign a pure nose in this class... However, that certainly doesnt mean there will not be times when they can get four linebackers on the field at once.... That is the 'game plan' style of football coach O has preached since be took the job. A good example was the Wisconsin game when they often employed five defensive lineman on first and second downs

Roster has Dowrey listed at 6-3 311. Might not be big enough for the Steelers, but it would be fine for college.

I agree with everyone else that we are going to run this as our base next year. It could be done if they really wanted to though.

As an OLB in a 3-4 Barnes wouldn't be asked to do a lot of coverage. Even if he did it would probably be zone not man. He's not a guy you would drop into coverage instead of having him rush the QB in a passing situation.

Not sure if it was intentional or an oversight but a guy like Bars could do well in a 3-4, bit of a tweener from what I remember, not quite a DE or a LB in the 4-3 but could make a nice olb in a 3-4. Haven't heard much about his development mind you. Lack of a true nose would be tough on the ILB's as well.

According to the Wisconsin site, LB's coach Andy Buh is mulling other options (I'm assuming they meant mulling, article actually says "mauling").

Yeah. WAAAAY more explosive than I assumed he was... Kid can play outside, plays sideline to sideline... But can also take on blocks and kills a few kids trying to block him. I am a fan.
