What an absurd statement.
Tony Dungy, Lorenzo Romar. Two of the most respected coaches in their sport, NEVER yell or cuss. Larry Johnson, one of the most respected DL coaches in America. Doesn't yell/cuss at his kids. I've NEVER seen Nick Saban or Les Miles loose their cool on the side line. I have no doubt they give it to their kids, but they know better than to do it in on National TV. If you follow soccer, pay attention to Sir Alex Ferguson. He will NEVER attack one of his own players in public, and almost never says a bad word about them to the press. He keeps it all behind doors. He's considered the best man manager in the biggest sport of the world.
Coaching is about winning the respect of your players, not their fear. There are obviously many ways to win that respect. I don't think Chip Kelly's manner is a very good one, JMO though.

Not trying to be "that guy" but I assume you are talking about Brian Kelly at ND cause Chip Kelly is at Oregon. I agree with your points tho that a coach does not need to yell to get his message across. I've learned that if you yell rarely it really gets the message across when you do...

You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game, life or football-the margin for error is so small. -Pacino

Just read something where Aaron Lynch (former 5* DE) got into a fight with another player. Kelly apparently was livid and said that anymore fights means they won't be attending practice or something (can't remember exactly what the punishment would be).
I don't know how bad the fight was, but we hear about scuffles all the time it seems.

It sounds like his mother moved from Florida to Ohio. I think he had originally been committed to FSU, but don't quote me on that.

Maybe you haven't noticed the schedule we have this year. Navy (in Ireland), Purdue, at Mich St., Michigan, Miami (Soldier Field), Stanford, BYU, at Oklahoma, Pitt, at BC, Wake Forest, at USC. Not quite the cake walk so many people imply. BK working at adding SEC schools to schedule in the near future. Plus, at ND, you get to play all over the place. Playing around the country every year, even other countries. You have all these "experts" saying that ND has easy schedules, then out of the other side of their mouths they say that ND shouldn't have schedules like the one coming up (2012) because it's too tough. Which way is it? Schedules are made so far ahead, you don't know if a school will be good or not 5 years from now. All you can do is schedule.

If they go 6-7, Kelly is gone and many of those kids will be as well.
I easily could see a 7-6 type of season in South Bend, which would put Kelly on the hot seat.

Of course. That's why I said that I didn't know how bad the fight was. Scuffling on the field isn't a big deal. However, if it was a Drake/McGloin situation where they started fighting in the locker room afterwards, that might be an issue.
