Your friend is delusional regarding the academic rigors and standards in place at SEC schools for football and hoops players. If you can play football and breathe air, you get into almost every one of them.

The rigors comment was a joke. But it's not unreasonable.
Kids who don't make it into the SEC go to Troy, Ark St, Southern Miss, La Tech, Memphis, etc.

Sure is. Seen it happen myself. Kid was supposed to go to Auburn (before they blew up and became a recruiting power) couldn't get in and ended up at Troy.

Yep - you and I agree. I was joking about the 'rigors.'
It is true that the SEC can push things pretty far academically, but they have limits.
