Delaware update

Being pelted with pretty heavy showers, and the winds have started to gust well over 25mph. Sandy will be hitting less than an hour from where I am, and already been told that our office in Wilmington is in a mandatory evacuation as it sits next to Brandywine River.
Those in this wenches path, stay safe, even though not a true Hurricane and classified as a Nor'Easter, still will pack 75mph+ winds and 8-11 inches of rain.

I heard they are going to exchange the cata buses for cata boats so that we students can still get to class.

Went back home from Happy Valley today. On I-80 between State College and I-79, saw an estimated 450-500 electrical trucks on their way east. It was like a parade of bucket trucks, semi's, trucks dragging augers + backhoes... They're "ready". As ready as you can be.

I do. Right now it's just rain and wind. No real damage yet. Saw some pics from ocean grove, Nj and wildwood. Gonna be bad

They just sent an email to students saying that University Park is remaining open for now since its not in the direct path of the storm. Then they went on to talk about being careful when walking to class etc due to high winds and rain and to communicate with family and friends to let them know you are fine.
Glad to know the administration cares about the students

Wilmington reporting gusts of over 45 mph. We're having gusts that are as strong, if not higher. I can hear it whipping the plastic that I have over our basement window wells.
I'm fairly certain the trees about 1/8 mile in back of the house will be down. They almost always come down during a strong t-storm.

I just drove back from SC to Bucks County and yes there were hundreds of trucks as you mention. They were from Michigan, Missouri, Indiana, and Ohio. It was an army moving east. I guess this is the real deal. Just told my daughter not to risk going to class if it is bad in SC.

Good call because there is no way UPark will cancel classes. In the email they said "Your personal safety is paramount" but yet they won't cancel classes.

We live in Chester Co. Ive already been given Mon-Tue off. My wife is waiting to hear about Tuesday. We went out for a drive about an hour ago (we love storms) and its actually not raining here at the moment (on and off throughout the day). Wind is picking up though...probably 20-25 mph. It's coming right at us, but I think NJ is going to get hit the hardest. We have friends in Point Pleasant who stayed. That area is going to get pummeled.

Indeed. Steady sheets of rain coming down in Harrisburg now and also steady winds. Still not at the strongest point yet. That will be after dark.
