Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep Charter running back David Williams made the trip to State College on Saturday to check out a spring practice at Penn State.

"When I talked to Coach O'Brien he was basically telling me that I was their guy," said Williams. "They want to take two running backs, but if I come there and I don't want them to bring in another running back, they won't."

Yeah, I'm getting tired of that quote coming up in his interviews for the past month. We need two RBs regardless. He has to understand he has to compete no matter where he goes.

With Belton at RB now, I don't know if Penn State really needs 2 RB's in this class.
Redd could go pro, but I doubt it.
So in 2013, you could potentially have the following.
Sr. Redd
Sr. Dukes
Jr. Belton
So.Lynch
Fr. Williams

I think we will more frequently run two Wide, two TE and single back so the need for two backs is less important than in years past. With the single back set, I think Zwinak could excel in that role as well further adding to the mix of Belton, Lynch, and *hopefully* Williams after Redd and Dukes graduate.

That and the second guy could be someone like a Ryan Switzer (obviously not him) or Richy Anderson Jr. kind of guy that can take some snaps back there and in the slot. Just a jitter bug type of kid. That way he really isn't a RB, but he'll have the ability to get snaps fromt here.

If that's the case than kudos for turning that into a positive recruiting ploy.

Good point on Anderson. Hasn't been talked about lately. Could be a sleeper.

Dukes isn't practicing this semester and had a habit of getting pulled from games for mistakes.
We have no idea if Belton will stay at or pan out at RB, but with Dukes out at least he will be getting a lot of reps in practice this spring.
We are an academic casualty or an injury away from Iowa type RB depth issues. They just lost their newly named starting sophomore RB to a knee a few days ago and will probably be playing their two incoming freshmen a lot again this year.
