  • Dear Mr. Joyner,

My mother always said if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all. She never said do not blast someone after you say the nice thing. So here it goes.

Thank you so much for being on a committe that got Sanderson to the WR Room and BOB to Beaver Stadium. I kind of figure with what a tool bag you are it was luck but none the less you scored big on those two ventures.

But being an AD isn't always about hiring the right coaches. Sometimes it is standing up for your people in the times when it seems that every single person in the world wants to sh*t all over them. Soemtimes a brief statement about things being unfair and obvious should come out of your mouth, if for nothing more than showing the poeple under you that you do care about more than just yourself.

Then again, I don't think many people in Med School learn how to be an Athletic Director.

You are a joke sir and actually recieve more back lash than Erickson and your future cronies on the BOT. In the end it is your job to fight for the people that work for you.

I wouldn't blame Billy O one bit if he came in the office after the year, opunched you in the face, and went and coached in the NFL.

After all, it is sometimes nice to get a public statement about your support for your people. Maybe you should follow Billy O when it comes to supporting those who need to support you publically.

    Yours truly,

    Hopefully the PSU World

What do you want him to do? Penn State is not going to go to the public or press to air any complaints they have with the NCAA or the Big Ten. They are going to do it behind closed doors. The only person that really has said anything in the open has been McGloin last week. Joyner is not going to call a press conference to blast the NCAA or Big Ten. Even if he quit or was fired tomorrow, his replacement is not going to do that either.

The only thing that brought instant replay to the BIG was Paterno calling the BIG out and it catching embarrassing media. Certainly, no one at PSU has the clout that Paterno did at that time, but the BIG will do absolutely nothing until public pressure is brought to bear.

Edit: seriously, what have we got to lose? Stop the PC crap and let them have both barrels, what can they do worse than is currently the case?

So do you want O'Brien making a bigger deal of it as well? He is the person that speaks with the press on a weekly basis. He has the Thursday night coaches show and the pregame show as well. It is unfair to compare anyone at PSU to Paterno. I know and understand what Paterno did with the officials and helping get replay within the conference and college football. However, if O'Brien or any other coach did the same thing Joe did (very public, chasing down and screaming at the refs), I think the Big Ten and or the NCAA steps in and suspends the coach.

I really think PSU needs some press and media (outside the normal PSU beat reporters) to run a story on it and see if they can get legs.

  • You gotta pick your battles boys and girls. An obvious missed call in a football game that doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot or stopping selling merchandise are trivial issues in the grand scheme of things. You have to keep your ammo dry and only pull out your gun if you fully intend to use it. There's a time and place for everything.

    Solo

  • Your right they should all just keep quiet and take while the place suffers. Afterall it seems to be the PSU way up top. Thank the lord that these players have a ton more onions than their own administration.

I don't think very many people ralize that thing with the players is far from over. In fact it is about 10 months away from being over. Right now all the recruiting services have their rankings wrong.

The top three recruits in the Nation should be:

    D. Barnes.
    A. Robinson
    M. Hall

Eventually these kids and players are going to need more than just themselves and the "Us against the world battle." Eventually they are going to need someone from up top saying that these kids deserve better, and these kids have been screwed, and these kids had nothing to do with past failures.

So yes, a blown call here or there and a computer malfunction are harmless, but when is enough enough from people who run the university?
