    I think that move makes it personal. Edsall had nothing to do with Franklin but figured Danny would want to go there. It wouldn't surprise me if PSU is on that list also.

    If we can get DOB ill piss myself.

    The question is, do you think O'Brien is clearly better than the QBs we have right now? I'm not saying we have four good QBs, but I'm no expert on O'Brien. I've only seen him a couple times, and he's looked okay.

    Having him on board next year might also worry some blue chip QBs in the 2013 class.

    O'Brien would come in with 2 years starting experience, including a great freshman season. Based on what we have I think it likely Danny could come here and start for 2 years. He is a definite upgrade in my book.

    Sounds like the Eli Manning and John Elway bullshit.

  • So Edsall apparently asked O'Brien not to announce his transfer until Diggs committed. In fact, O'Brien hosted Diggs the weekend before he committed. O'Brien went along with the plan thinking he could transfer to Vandy to play for Franklin. Now Edsall is not allowing his release to Vandy. Is there any wonder why all these kids are transferring. I feel bad for Diggs. That's a crappy way to land a recruit. I hope O'Brien succeeds somewhere else. I heard he looks good in Blue and White!

    Many people knew O'Brien was more than likely transferring before hosting Diggs. It wasn't a secret. Heck, Diggs' high school coach knew that was a distinct possibility. The rumor was all over the place.

  • True, but is it necessary to punish O'Brien? He doesn't fit into that offense. Vanderbilt isn't in the same conference. Seems kind of petty to me.

    How is it not a dick move? He won't let him go to a place where he had previous success with the coach? Sounds like a dick move to me.......

    I think it sets a poor precedent. Every time your school has a bad year or your coach leaves you are free to go wherever you want?

    I'm not sure why this is actually a problem for O'Brien anyway. If he graduates and would be admitted as a grad student I don't think he would have to pay his own way next year. Maybe the problem is that O'Brien wants to transfer now.

    If winning was easy even losers would do it.

    Russell Wilson had to have a release as well. So yes to go play somewhere else he would need the release.

    It is not petty because Vanderbilt's head coach used to be the HCIW at Maryland. If they let one kid go there, Maryland is opening up a can of worms where a handful of players may want to go to Vanderbilt. Franklin, I am sure, knows the Maryland roster very well.

    O'Brien would probably be the backup. He doesn't fit Edsell's style of offense the way the Wilson kid does.

  • Edsall is really wetting the bed with this transfer. Just heard there is a list of 16 schools that he can not transfer to. The list should go public soon. DMV radio shows are killing edsall saying that he is making it personal. Tried to embarass starting LT Max Garcia by saying that he's still homesick and wants to play closer to home in GA.

Or of OB goes down for a significant amount of time he goes in. If the kid throws a hissy fit cus the coach wants to wwin now AND when he is there and he can't just learn for a year (he ain't getting hit in practice anyways) then eff em. And that isn't to Hackenberg, its to any kid.

    Unless you're Adrian Peterson or Julio Jones, you should RS as a freshman anyway. Its a shame our QB recruiting was so bad before that we were forced to start a true freshman before he was ready to play.

    JMO, it can only benefit a kid to spend a year in the weight room and to get an extra year to learn the playbook.

    Once again, unless the kid is an all-world type athlete, they shouldn't start as a freshman. Just a result of poor recruiting efforts at a position.

    Short answer long, I agree with MTayl. If the kid gets scared off because of a RS year and O'Brien of all people, he doesn't have the mental fortitude to be great anyway.
