Danny O'Brien to OkState?

Hearing from numerous #OKState insiders in the last 48 hours that #Terps QB Danny O'Brien will be a Cowboy next season. #GoPokes

I know we were making a strong push... As long as he stays away from Wisconsin I'd consider it a win though.

  • Oh people around my neck of the woods are going to be PISSED. They recruited a kid from Rochester, IL. (suburb here and where a fellow alum from my football program coaches) who enrolled early and had a good chance to start as a true frosh.

Oh and I'll be pissed because I want him at PSU.

  • It will be interesting to see what graduate program he can enroll in that they don't have at Maryland. Maybe something oil industry related. Or maybe T. Boone Pickens can create another graduate program just for him.

  • I hate to say it but, it's a good system for him to show off his skills.

  • I would like to see Danny O'Brien at PSU, but I just don't see it happening. Almost every other school O'Brien has been rumored to be considering (Wisc, OkSt, MSU, Stanford, etc.) has to replace last year's starter at QB and thus has a vacancy at starting QB.

While we all assume O'Brien would easily beat McGloin or Bolden, the fact is that those two guys started every game at QB for PSU for the past two years and are still on the roster, and both are upperclassmen, so Danny O'Brien risks walking into a QB controversy if he comes here. That may not bother him, as he may be confident enough in his skills to beat out both McGloin and Bolden, but that scenario may make a rookie head coach uneasy.

Agree with the first paragraph, disagree with the second. O'Brien is an immediate upgrade to either MM or RB (so are 3 or 4 high school QBs in my area) and would start here without a second thought.

Don't see how he comes given the considerations in your first paragraph, plus the team might not welcome a carpetbagger who immediately starts.

I don't see this as an issue.
PSU has a new coach, a new offensive "system", so doesnt really have an incumbent QB.

Yeah, there are 2 guys who play the position, and there is a fair amount of tape on both of them.

O'Brien seems like a bright kid, and I don't think he would/should consider either of these guys as entrenched starting QBs that he (O'Brien) couldn't beat out.

Wilson was welcomed at Wisky with open arms and I think he was made captain also if I'm not mistaken. If he comes in and looks good, the receivers and everyone would love him. The only ones that wouldn't take kind to it was Mcgloin, Bolden and PJ if he is eligible. Winning cures all.

  • My 7 year old has more arm strength than mm and my 9 yr old has better pocket prescence than bolden. danny would be a starter the day he steps on our campus.

...and if you're not down with that, then I got 2 words for ya.."suck it!!"
